Rugeley Runners will be in attending the below event organised by Rugeley Town Council.

Come along and find out about your local running club whether you are looking to start, already running but want to run with other like minded runners or are an established runner looking to run stronger, we have a run group for you.

Well done to our runners today for turning out to run the lady few miles with James Lewis on his run from Morocco to Rugeley whilst dribbling a football.

A special shout out to those who sorted traffic to keep the run moving, this was greatly appreciated by all.

Congratulations to our club runner Jon Read on winning the Cathedral to Castle run today.

10 mile run from Lichfield Cathedral to Tamworth Castle.

Well done to our club members who also completed this run with several PB's achieved

Places are still available for the next beginners running course starting on next week.

Key information

📅 Start date is Tuesday 3rd March 2026

🕰 6.15pm for meet and greet ready for a 6.30pm start (don't worry if you are after 6.15 as long as you are there for 6.30pm)

📌 Meet at Rugeley Cricket Club, Chasely Road Rugeley

💰Cost is £20 per person

👚 Wear whatever you are comfortable to run in, no need to spend on kit for your first day

🔵 course length is 8 weeks with one led run and other self led runs

🎖Medals awarded to all runners who complete the course with a supported 5k run.

The course is led by Kevin and Julie two of our experienced run leaders and other club members will be supporting.

With just 1 week to go until our beginners course starts, we thought we would introduce you to your run leaders.

Kevin has been with the club since 2018. Not only has he been one of our motivational run leaders for the last 5 years, he is also the club’s Chairman. Julie started with the club on a beginner course in 2019, and a has now been a run leader for 4 years. Julie says taking the first step to join, having never run before was ‘the best thing I’ve ever done for myself’.

The duration of the course is 8 weeks, with the aim being to complete a 5k run at the end. All those that complete the course will receive a finishers medal. The cost is just £20 for the full 8 weeks. Start date is Tuesday 3rd March at 6.15pm from Rugeley cricket club on Chaseley Road.

With spring just round the corner, there’s no better time to start your running journey!

Please be assured, it’s a very supportive course, and no-one gets left behind.
