You’ve been meaning to do something for yourself. But the week keeps filling up.

Perhaps you’ve spent much of the week sitting at a desk, driving around or mentally ticking through everything that needs doing. Your body feels a bit stiff, and while you know a stretch would help, once you get home and sit down, it’s hard to get going again.

That’s where Wind Down comes in.

Starting in November, my new Thursday evening yoga class is a chance to get out of the house, take a break from the to-do list and give yourself an hour that’s just for you.

We’ll move at an unhurried pace, with gentle movement to ease out the day’s tension, time for a good stretch and a proper rest at the end.

You don’t need to be flexible or have done yoga before. You’re welcome to take breaks, and I’ll offer options throughout so you can find what feels comfortable for you.

The aim is to help you head home feeling looser, calmer and rather glad you came.

🌙 Wind Down Yoga
Starting in November
Thursdays, 6–7pm
Houlton School, Rugby
Beginners welcome.

Fancy making this hour part of your week? Find out more and book your place. Link in the comments.

If you have any questions, you’re very welcome to message me.

Lifted Reset🪽

Sometimes an hour’s yoga class feels just right. Other times, you need a little more space.

Lifted Reset is for those times.

We’ll begin with gentle yoga to help you arrive and loosen up, before moving into longer-held Yin poses and targeted myofascial release. We’ll then slow down further with restorative yoga and a long Yoga Nidra.

There will be essential oils, plenty of time to settle and a small sweet treat before you head home.

The whole afternoon is designed to help you release tension, calm your mind and leave feeling lighter, clearer and more deeply rested.

No previous yoga experience is needed.

Saturday 26 September
3.30–6pm
The Barn, Houlton
£38

If this sounds like the time and space you need, you can book using the link below.

New weekly class: Wind Down Yoga 🌙

I’m really excited to finally share this one with you: my brand-new weekly Thursday evening class, Wind Down!

I’ve been wanting to create something for those evenings when I know I’d feel better for moving, but don’t quite have the energy for a full Vinyasa Flow. At the same time, I don’t always want to be as still as we are in Yin.

I’m sure some of you know exactly what I mean!

Wind Down sits right in that sweet spot between the two.

I want this to be the class you can come to when you’re not feeling particularly energetic, knowing that you’ll be glad you did. You’ll still move, stretch and feel as though you’ve done something good for yourself, but without the pace of a full Flow.

Each Thursday, I’ll guide you through straightforward movement, satisfying stretches and calming breathwork before finishing with a proper relaxation. There’ll be nothing complicated to keep up with and plenty of options, as always.

By this point in the week, many of us are carrying tension in our bodies. Wind Down gives you an hour to let some of that go and settle into the evening feeling calmer. ✨

I’m loving seeing my timetable grow to offer different ways to practise depending on what you need, and I’m really looking forward to bringing this one to Thursday evenings.

It’s suitable for beginners, anyone returning to yoga after a break, and anyone who fancies a slower, steadier evening practice.

Houlton School
Thursdays, 6–7pm
Seven-week block starting 5 November
£56 for the block (£8 per class)

Bookings are now open and I can’t wait to get started. I’d really love to welcome you to the first block:

We rarely give ourselves a whole day anymore.

We squeeze rest into the gaps and hope it’s enough.

Imagine having nowhere else to be. No clock to watch. No rush.

We’ll spend the day at beautiful Cowslip Meadows - Leicestershire | Rural Retreat with yoga, restorative yoga, yoga nidra and plenty of time to slow down. Lunch and refreshments will be lovingly prepared by Nev’s Kitchen Rugby – Small kitchen big Hearts ♥️ and seasonal nature connection experience with Leanne at Wild Routes

If this sounds like the pause you’ve been craving, I’d love to welcome you.

I can still picture it. Rodney Yee practising by the sea, moving slowly through each pose.

There was no YouTube and no app full of classes to scroll through. You put the DVD on, rolled out your mat and followed along.

I watched it so many times. Somehow, I never got bored of it.

I knew what was coming next.

And I liked that.

Perhaps that’s why I still remember that DVD all these years later. You don’t always need something new. Sometimes there’s real value in coming back.

That’s one reason I teach my Vinyasa Flow classes in a series. We return to familiar movements over a few weeks and gradually build on them.

Do you enjoy knowing what’s coming in a yoga class, or do you prefer every class to be completely different?

Your Brain Doesn't Know You're on Holiday 🌊

Have you ever gone on holiday and found it takes a few days to actually feel like you're on holiday?

You're there, you've arrived, there's nothing urgent to do.... but your mind hasn't quite got the memo yet.

I wrote about this after getting back from Wales, and why it's completely normal.

🌟New Weekly Yin Class🌟

I’m so happy to finally be launching a weekly Yin Yoga class!

It’s something I’ve wanted to bring to the schedule for such a long time, and I’m so pleased it’s now happening.

Deep Stretch Yin
Thursdays, 7.20pm to 8.35pm
Houlton School
Starting 10 September

This will be a slow, steady, low-to-the-ground class where we stay in poses for longer, use props for support, and give the body time to soften and open.

It’s a lovely way to move from the busyness of the week into the weekend. A chance to slow down, stretch deeply, release tension, and feel a little more settled before Friday arrives.

You don’t need to be flexible and you don’t need to have done Yin before. It’s suitable for all levels, including beginners.

Expect deep stretches, quiet moments, warm layers, bolsters, blankets, and space to breathe.

If you’d like to join me from September, you can book your space here ⬇️

Sometimes we push through without asking what we actually need.

More movement?

More strength?

A proper stretch?

A few minutes of stillness?

Yoga doesn’t have to be the same every time. Some days we need Flow. Some days we need Yin. Some days we just need to lie down and breathe for a minute. 🌿

What is your body asking for today?

Movement, stillness, strength or rest? ✨

A little bit of the story behind Gemma Murphy Yoga. ✨

I didn’t start yoga because I was flexible. I started because I was curious.

When I was seven, I found an old black and white yoga book and tried to copy the shapes. I wasn’t very good, but something about it stayed with me.

Over the years, yoga has become many different things to me.

Movement.
Strength.
Space.
A way to steady myself when life feels full.

And now, after many years working in children’s education alongside teaching yoga, I’m making more room for this work.

My classes are practical, welcoming yoga for real life. A mix of movement, breathwork and thoughtful themes to help you ease tension, steady your mind and reconnect with yourself.

You can practise with me through weekly Flow, weekly Yin, longer weekend sessions, and retreats in beautiful spaces a little further afield.

And if you’re hesitant to start, you’ll be very welcome. Exactly as you are.

I’ll pop the link in the comments if you’d like to see what’s coming up, or join my mailing list for early invitations to new classes, workshops and retreats.

I love leading these Lifted sessions 🪽

There’s something really special about giving you 2.5 hours to slow down properly.

No rushing.
No pushing.
Nothing fancy.

Just movement to ease the body, deep stretches to release tension, myofascial release to get into those tight spots, and yoga nidra to help the whole system settle.

A chance to soften the shoulders, calm the mind, breathe a little deeper and leave feeling lighter.

That was Lifted this afternoon. 🪽

Thank you to everyone who came. 🙏🏻Heart very full.
