Bilton Ajax U13's Spitfires vs Thorplands Club 81 U13's Falcons - Bilton School - D

Today we welcomed Thorplands with the weather starting to look a bit more like normal. Spitfires wanted to continue their winning start to the season and were positive from the off. They started well and were close to scoring in the first minute and then again a few minutes later. Everything looked positive until Thorplands first attack and after a defensive mix up we were 0-1 down. The lads heads dropped and then found ourselves 0-2 down after some more defensive errors.

The lads were frustrated especially after starting so positively and being the dominant team.

We fought back after 19 minutes with a lovely defence splitting ball by Kyle that Finn latched onto, shooting making the keeper save and spill, and then picking up the spill and poking it home.

This spurred on the team and after 26 mins with some good corner routine choices Ollie put in a great ball causing their defender to head it into his own net. 2-2 giving the lads even more encouragement.

Then after 29 mins Caleb with a great corner into the box which landed at Dylan D's feet who struck in a deflected shot to make it 3-2. Its what they deserved as they were the better team.

Second half did not start great with them scoring after 1 mins to make it 3-3. But again the team didn't let that phase them and at 38 mins Kyle picked up the ball in midfield, drove up the pitch and played a lovely through ball to Jack who ran onto it and put it away. 4-3.

They gave us a scare as they got though again but Shaur came to the rescue with a great 1 on 1 save to keep it 4-3.

After that it was all Ajax and we missed a host of chances but at 52 minutes a ball in the box, a push and a handball gave the ref no choice but to award a penalty with Thomas stepping up and smashing it in. 5-3.

Then on 60th minute, last kick of the game Jake pounced onto a loose ball and made the final score 6-3.

Managed to get a team photo as its the first game with every player available.❤️

POTM was Finn aka Finnessi as his skills were really on show today with about 4 or 5 nutmegs 👏

Big thank you to Dan for reffing, Gaz for the line and parents for helping with setup and the brilliant well behaved support they always show.

🔥🐲 Dragons Shine in First Home Game of the Season! 🔴⚪️

A beautiful sunny morning, our first home game since the end of last season, and a fantastic performance from the Dragons against a really good Drayton Grange Blades side.

There was some brilliant attacking football, fantastic goals and plenty of quality at both ends of the pitch.

🐲 Q1

The Dragons started brightly, with Freddie and Elliot combining early on before Elliot found the breakthrough after just a couple of minutes.

Oscar and Max were excellent defensively, while Josh added some great runs and defensive work of his own. Jack and Freddie continued to create chances as the Dragons kept the pressure on, while George made an important save when Drayton threatened.

🔥 Q2

The Dragons really found their rhythm here.

There was some lovely passing and movement, with Max, Freddie, Elliot and Oscar all contributing to a sustained spell of attacking pressure. Josh continued to work tirelessly, while George remained composed when called upon.

The Dragons continued to find openings, with Jack getting on the scoresheet and Freddie also making his mark as the attacking pressure continued.

💪 Q3

The third quarter saw Henry, Logan and Theo add fresh energy to the team.

Henry was lively going forward, while Logan provided plenty of defensive solidity. Theo also made some good contributions at both ends, and George produced another excellent save to keep Drayton at bay.

The Dragons continued to create opportunities through some excellent passing and movement, with more fantastic football on display.

🚀 Q4

The Dragons finished strongly, continuing to move the ball well and create opportunities.

Henry, Max and Logan continued to make important contributions, while George remained composed behind them. The Dragons kept their intensity right through to the final whistle, with further attacking moments providing a fitting finish to a really enjoyable morning.

👏 A really impressive team performance. Great goals, excellent passing and movement, and plenty of hard work throughout the team made for a fantastic first home game of the season.

🏆 Managers’ Player – Freddie
An excellent all-round performance, with a brilliant work rate and a huge contribution to the team’s attacking and defensive efforts.

🏆 Parents’ Player – Max
A composed performance at the back, combined with some excellent and accurate passing to launch the Dragons’ counter-attacks.

A huge thank you to Drayton Grange Blades for a great game. They played with a fantastic attitude and gave us a really enjoyable contest on a beautiful morning. We wish them all the very best for the season ahead. 🤝⚽️

Just 3 games in and this team is already showing so much energy, enthusiasm, confidence and team spirit! 🙌

The boys have gelled so well and it’s brilliant to see their confidence growing with every game. They are working together, supporting each other and, most importantly, enjoying their football!

There have been some fantastic performances and some really positive results along the way. The progress these boys are making already is brilliant to see!

It was great to see the U9 Spartans together as a full team on Saturday for their first home game, coming up against a very tough opposition.

They battled very well in tough, windy conditions and it was a great defensive performance all round.

Congratulations to Leo, player of the match for always giving 100% for the team, great movement all over the pitch and some great tackles.

We look forward to next week already. Thank you to our coaches, parents and sponsors Hunnebeck Formwork . We also appreciate people giving up their time to ref our games!

Today Bilton Ajax U16 Whites were at home against Roade U16 Falcons.

With the Whites looking for their first win in Division C and with 3 key players away on Duke of Edinburgh duties, the day couldn’t have got off to a worse start with our keeper ill with a stomach bug and our left back phoning in with an ankle injury before the game had even started, the squad was shuffled around to accommodate the late changes.

With our new signing Tiago playing his first game for the team there was still a sense of optimism amongst the lads that we could get something out of the game.
BUT as Roade kicked off they’d scored within 16 seconds to go 0-1 up. 6 minutes later Franek (last season’s club and team top scorer) got his first goal of the new season assisted by Abraham to level the score 1-1.

This boosted the Whites’ confidence and they settled down for a bit and started to pass the ball around, but within 2 minutes Roade scored again making the score 1-2.
The Whites still played some good football with our stand in keeper Ryan making some great saves, but in the 16th minute Roade scored an unbelievable free kick into exactly the top right hand corner of the goal making the score 1-3.
10minutes later scored another to end the half 1-4.

The lads weren’t completely down and started the second half well but again Roade broke through and 6 minutes into the second half scored again 1-5, then again in the 59th & 67th making the score 1-7.

Ryan, our stand in keeper made some outstanding saves during the game but with a power strike from Roade and an initial great save stopping the shot, the ball ball rebounded out for Roade to tap in to make the score 1-8.
Ryan came off injured due to the save and Harry stepped into goal for the last 10 minutes.
He quickly made some good saves but in the 79th and 80th minutes Roade scored to make the final score 1-10.
A hard score to stomach and the lads looked down at the end.

Player of the Match went to Ryan, our stand in keeper who without him the score would have been a lot worse and Parents Player went to Abraham who never stopped running all game.
Hopefully Ryan’s injury is not too bad and the lads just need to forget about this result and restart next week with the full team hopefully back. These things happen and we go again.

Bilton Ajax Spitfires U13's vs Earls Barton Utd U13's Blue

Today Spitfires welcomed Earls Barton Utd Blue in our second U13 D league match of the season.

On a beautiful sunny day, the game kicked off with both teams competing well. Lots of tough challenges, with the opposition having the dominance with size and height causing challenges across the pitch.

Spitfires battled hard and had a couple of half chances. The hard work paid off after 26 mins with a corner that dropped into the box. After a spill from the goal keeper Gabe was on his toes to knock in the opener.

The lead did not last long with Earls Barton pouncing on a 50:50 challenge a minute later, that fell to the attacker who slotted the ball away nicely.

At half time the team were down but after some words of encouragement and a team huddle they came out firing in the second half and dominated the game scoring after 8 mins with a well worked throw in by Kyle with Jack running onto it and putting the ball away making the score 2-1. They should had a few more with multiple chances created but failed to do so, which led to a nervy last few mins.

They had to battle to keep the lead with some resilient defending but prevailed and won the game keeping their unbeaten start to the season.

POTM was Harry who was solid at the back and kept his cool under pressure.

Bilton Ajax U16 Reds v Dunlop Juniors U16

After a very uncertain week, not knowing if the game would go ahead due to Referee availability, we were grateful to meet again at home on a sunny Sunday morning in our first ever Birmingham FA Minor Cup match.

We knew we were up against a very strong team who are top of their league, two tiers above us, so were expecting a tough game.
From the whistle Dunlop were all over us, moving the ball around well. However, the Reds stood firm, kept their shape & prevented many Dunlop chances.

Sam performed brilliantly this morning, pulling off numerous amazing saves to keep the score 0-0 at half time.

Dunlop started strongly again in the second half, but again the Reds stood firm, continuing to block their many chances. Our solid defensive line was starting to really frustrate Dunlop.

We were close to getting some chances in the second half, but were unable to get a clear shot at goal. There was an exciting moment where Dunlop’s goalie dropped the ball & Jayden very nearly took a chance, but Dunlop’s defence quickly regained control.

Dunlop piled on more pressure, but our defenders & Sam thwarted their chances - more great saves by Sam.

In the closing few minutes of the game, Dunlop won a free kick, which could’ve easily ended the game, however luckily for us it hit the post and was cleared away quickly by our defence.

As the full time whistle blew we had held level against such a strong team, celebrations erupted from the spectators. There was a feeling that we actually could do this!

Then came the penalty shootout.
Our five were chosen and assembled anxiously on the centre circle, alongside Dunlop who were very fired up & excited.

Our Captain Nathan took our first penalty, which bounced off the post & trickled in.
Dunlop missed three of their penalties, before Birthday Boy Daniel stepped forward to take what could be the deciding shot.
Cool & calm (unlike his parents watching!) Daniel slotted it into the bottom left, sealing a victory for the team! 3-1 on penalties.

Dunlop couldn’t believe it, they were the stronger team throughout & were clearly expecting to win this morning. But, they’ve never met us before. We never give up 💪🏻

Player of the Match went to Sam owing to his amazing performance in goal. It would’ve been a very different game without him 🥇
We are so immensely proud of every player, we only had one sub, and everyone kept battling for the entire game, giving their absolute all.

Thank you to all of the families watching and cheering the lads on throughout 👏 and helping clear the pitch afterwards.

Bring on the second round of the Cup! 🏆
