It was a family outing at Pembrey this weekend, Mike & Cathy double drove the single seater, as well as younger son 14yr old Alex competing in his first event. We knew we had a problem with the car over boosting and an attempt to address the issue after practice made things worse and we had very low boost on Run 1, this was soon resolved back in the garage but we still had an over boosting problem. Cathy was initially taking it steady, finding the best line through the Esses after losing it there last time at 100+mph, and was gaining confidence with each lap, although couldn't put a lap together to beat her best time there of 100secs. Mike had a full 360 spin at Honda Curve on run 4 but manged to keep it on the track! After a down pour over Sat night it was damp on the track first thing Sunday morning, which added puddle dodging to the challenge of a different track layout. The car wouldn't start for run 3 due to a fuel pump relay issue in the afternoon, there was a mad panic to get out in time to complete the runs and re-join the Championship pack for the last run off of the day to score points. At the end of the weekend both drivers best times were close!

Alex was out driving all day Saturday and impressively improved his times throughout the day, the weekend was all about giving him seat time and experience. He was able to do 3 sighting laps with a licenced driver and then on his own for the practice and timed runs. Unfortunately on Sunday Morning he crossed the finish line on his practice run, but got carried away on the fast curve at woodlands and was about to miss his exit off to the pits, lacking experience and judgement, instead of carrying on around the track, he panicked and tried to make the pit lane, he turned too sharply, too fast and the car spun off into a barrier. Massive thank you to rescue and ambulance crews who were quickly on the scene, Alex was extremely well looked after. Alex fully kitted out and with all the protection afforded by his rally car, as well as Helmet and Hans device he got out unharmed, albeit slightly sore today.
