Our Play on the Way area near Maxwell Road has been designed to add a bit of play into everyday journeys, giving children something to explore as they walk around Houlton.

It’s all part of making it easier and more enjoyable for families to get around on foot, turning an ordinary route into somewhere to stop, play and keep active.

Back & Forth’s bi-weekly Mental Health Walks are a chance for local men to get outside, have a chat and spend some time walking together around Houlton.

The next walk is on Saturday 12th September, 10–11am, meeting outside The Tuning Fork at Dollman Farm.

As Houlton School prepares to welcome its first primary pupils this September, a new School Safety Zone is helping make journeys to and from school safer for everyone. 📚

The new measures encourage more children to walk, wheel and cycle to school, while helping to reduce traffic outside the school gates at the busiest times of the day.

What a summer it's been at Houlton! ☀️

The return of our annual Family Fun Fay and Youth Games to plenty of brilliant bakes at the Junior Bake Off, it's been lovely to see so many families getting involved over the summer.

A big thank you to our Houlton Events Team, The Houlton Women's Institute, volunteers and everyone who helped make it all happen. And of course, to everyone who came along and joined in!

A new school year and a big first for Houlton. 📚

Earlier this summer, while Houlton School’s new primary offer was still taking shape, we caught up with Becky and Paul on site to talk about what was ahead.

Fast forward to September and the doors will be opening, with Houlton School welcoming its very first primary pupils.

From Reception right through to Year 13, it’s fantastic to see Houlton School becoming an all-through school for our community.

Looking for something to do before the school holidays are over? 📻

The 100 Years of Rugby Radio exhibition is still open at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum!

From the world's first transatlantic telephone service to the famous Greenwich time signal 'pips', the exhibition brings together photographs, models and original items telling the story of the Radio Station that once stood where Houlton is today.

It's a lovely way for the whole family to discover a bit more about the history that's right on their doorstep too.

The exhibition is open until 3rd October 2026, so there's still plenty of time to visit!
