2000-2021 at Newsells Park Stud | A new era begins
In 2000, Newsells Park Stud entered a transformative new chapter when it was acquired by Jacobs Holding AG under the leadership of the late Klaus J. Jacobs, this included expanding the estate to 1,200 acres.
A successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and passionate horseman, Klaus Jacobs had a clear vision: to create one of Europe’s leading commercial thoroughbred nurseries without compromising the highest standards of horsemanship and equine care.
A significant programme of investment followed. 70,000 trees were planted, new facilities developed inc: American-style barns with a house by each for the barn managers, horse walkers (including 20m and 20m x 30m walkers), lunge rings, many post and rail paddocks, etc.
A huge investment in mares also took place and the results soon followed. The first horse ever purchased was WALDMARK as a weanling in 2000, who is the dam of Classic winner MASKED MARVEL, plus WALDLERCHE, dam of 4-time Gr.1 winner WALDGEIST. During this era, Newsells Park also bred Classic winner LEGATISSIMO and Gr.1 winners - JAPAN, MOGUL, LIGHTNING SPEAR, GITANO HERNANDO, RITE OF PASSAGE, etc.
In addition, stallions stood at the Stud again including MOUNT NELSON, NATHANIEL and EQUIANO.
