A good pre-season friendly played in great spirits, with plenty of goals and some questionable defending along the way!

More minutes in the legs and there was plenty for the lads to learn and take away from the game.

Wishing striker Ryan Smyth a speedy recovery following a nasty collision with the Sheppey goal keeper early in the first half.

After the game. The clubs came together for the Sheppey FC race afternoon, helping raise some much-needed funds for Sheppey’s upcoming season.

A big thanks to everyone at Sheppey for accommodating us — we were all absolutely starving! (Sticking to the Nook from now on)

Next week we face Manor Hotel FC in our second local derby in as many weeks.

A tough one for the Nook against a tricky RDSL Premier Division side at the Rack-King Arena, Edlington.

The squad was threadbare due to the midweek fixture, with several lads also completing the National 3 Peaks Challenge at the weekend. Well done to all those involved — some understandably tired legs! 👏

Veteran goalkeeper Daniel Heald came out of retirement for his second appearance for the Nook and put in a solid shift. 🧤

It was an end-to-end contest, with Jack in a Box taking a 2–0 lead into half-time.

We came out fighting in the second half and Ryan Smyth continued his goalscoring form, powering home a bullet header at the back post from a pinpoint delivery by Brad Higgins.

We continued to push and created plenty of chances to find an equaliser, but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net.

The referee had a difficult night throughout, with decisions going against both sides. Another contentious decision handed the visitors a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box, which they dispatched to seal the win.

Best of luck to the Jack in a Box lads for the season. 🤝

We’d also like to wish Ben Slade a speedy recovery following a nasty knee injury. 💙

Plenty of positives to take despite the result.

A frustrating result on a midweek night, but plenty of positives to take from the performance.

We welcomed a few new faces into the squad and had the majority of the play in the first half, but poor defending from set pieces saw us go into the break 0–2 down.

More of the same in the second half as we continued to have plenty of the ball and created chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t capitalise when it mattered.

Chaz Ellis popping up on his return from injury with a brilliant goal lobbing the keeper from the half way line. Glad to have you back Charlie 🙌🏼

The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story, and there were certainly plenty of positives to take from the game as we continue to build and improve.

A tough night, but we dust ourselves down and go again. ⚽️💪
