A crown green bowling club formed from 5 older clubs to ensure the greens were kept open after the Council ceased their upkeep in 2013.

We are a Crown Green bowling club operating in Herringthorpe Valley Park, off Brookside S65 3DJ. We play in local leagues but we also run social bowling Friday and Sunday mornings (weather permitting) between April and September, If you are interested in any of our activities either ring on 07910503613 or come along Friday or Sunday morning and introduce yourself, you will be most welcome..

Well, off we go again then! The greens are in pretty good shape, the fixture booklets are printed and in the pavilion (one copy for paid up members) and subs and green fees are rolling in. They could do with rolling in a little quicker!

The first league games are this Saturday and captains have details so you will no doubt hear from them soon. Don't forget your sun cream, jumpers and wellies.
We are pleased to be joined by players from the Spartans Bowls Club which has sadly decided to cease operating and they are all most welcome.
Let's have a great season.
See you all on the greens.

Don't forget it's the AGM on Tuesday 15 February. 7.00pm at the Tabard.

After the official business we hope to tidy up the squads ready for the coming season. We're a bit lopsided at the moment with some squads being short on numbers and some looking to have too many so it will be great for us to know exactly where we stand. Ease try to get to the meeting and if you know members who are not on email or Facebook remind them about it

After 2 covid affected seasons it was wonderful to see so many enjoying Presentation Night at Sitwell Golf Club. The venue, food and disco helped the night go with a swing.

We had mixed fortunes on the green this season and we are already busy in transfer market trying to boost our player numbers for next year.

The AGM is the next big occasion and thus will hopefully be in early February. You will be notified when a date is finalised.

In the meantime the directors and committee wish you all a very happy Christmas and a problem free New Year.

Well, here we are nearing mid February with still no idea when we will be back on the green.

Very hopeful it will be spring by which time we should just about all be vaccinated.

In the meantime we are absolutely delighted at the response to our request for fees to be paid. Almost half our members and social bowlers have paid and others have promised payment in the near future. Some have also very kindly paid more than their dues, making donations to the club.

This is a wonderful shot in the arm as it proves our members appreciate and want the club to continue when the situation improves., and also that they recognise the work that is put in to keep us afloat.

We very much hope there will be some positive news in the not too distant future to let us get back to bowling.

See you soon but please all continue to take care.

On behalf of the committee can I wish you all a very Happy Christmas along with hope that 2021 will bring us all far better than 2020 did.

Please all stay safe until we can get back on the greens. There is currently no indication when this might be but we need to prepare so we will be in touch early in the new year regarding how we are planning to manage the AGM business.

Both Rotherham Combined CGB Association and South Yorkshire CGBA have cancelled their AGMs but we need to plan as though bowling will start sometime in 2021.

Best wishes to everyone.

The pavilion is now "winterised" with water and electric turned off. We managed to get the boards round the top green repaired so all that needs doing before we open for business in March (hopefully) is decorating the toilets. I will remind early in the year in the hope of getting a small team together to do the decorating.
In the meantime those of you who are using the greens for social bowling may continue to do so while the weather permits. Don't forget you need to book prior to playing. Hoping everyone is keeping well.
