A thrilling Saturday at Frindsbury Cricket Club…

With the weather firmly against us, the 1XI pulled off a miracle to force a result against Cobham in the only completed game across the Kent Cricket League’s top nine divisions!

As the rain began to clear, the captains and umpires agreed to a T20, with Frindsbury winning the toss and electing to field first.

The Berries were ruthless, taking regular wickets, with the 10th and final wicket falling on the last ball of the innings. Cobham were bowled out for just 71 from their 20 overs.

With more rain on the way, the message was clear: score quickly. Despite Cobham’s best efforts to slow the game down, that’s exactly what the boys did! The Berries chasing the total in just 6.2 overs.

A crucial 18 points sends Frindsbury back to the top of Division 5 Spitfire, with just one game remaining!

A famous result on our cricket weekend could only mean one thing… big celebrations were to follow!

We kicked off Cricket Weekend 2026 on Friday with our second annual Golf Day ⛳️

Seven groups took to Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club on a beautiful afternoon. Congratulations to young Fraser Driver, who keeps the title in the family after his dad won last year’s competition 🏆

On Sunday, Bailey lost the toss, but his side were asked to bat first against Kent Royals (Hollingbourne).

The Wagamama boys opened the batting and started positively, putting on 50 without loss. In-form bat Sam Collis came to the crease and took the score over 100 alongside the skipper, but a few quick wickets brought The Berries back to 125-5 with 15 overs to go. Jacob and Jordan White pushed on brilliantly to get FCC up to 194 from their 40 overs.

An opening pair of Richard Gibbons and cheese boy Matt Jupp bowled beautifully, restricting the scoring and taking wickets. Juppy had the ball on a cheese string, finishing with excellent figures of 9 overs, 4 maidens, 2 wickets for just 9 runs.

Opposition batsman number 5, and familiar face Shabbir Sayed, put up a respectable fight, but when Simon removed his partner, it was too much to ask of Shabbir, who was eventually dismissed by Arjun. Harry Walsh finished the job with the final wicket, The Berries winning by 66 runs.

A convincing win in their last home game of the season. The Sunday side have performed well, especially considering they were promoted last year. Credit to everyone involved!

AND THAT IS PROMOTION CONFIRMED! ⬆️🍾🥳

FCC 2nd XI sealed their promotion with a convincing six-wicket victory over Leeds & Broomfield.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, FCC’s bowlers did the damage, with skipper Coomber, Dhruvin, Pemba, Ruchir and Chapman combining to restrict the hosts to just 122.

In reply, Man of the Match Jacob Knight led the chase with a sublime unbeaten 43, ably supported by newcomer Arjun Anilkumar, who chipped in with a rapid 23.

Six wickets in hand, promotion secured, and just five points needed from the final game to clinch the title.

The 2s are going up. Now let’s finish the job. 🏆

The 1XI got back to winning ways on Saturday…

The travelling side OD CUACO not having an umpire meant Frindsbury won the toss by default and elected to bowl first.

The OD openers were able to get a few away up front before Luke Hills (2-14) and Sam Gracey (3-9) wrestled the game into Frindsbury’s control. Tight bowing from the Berries was the key, with 10 maidens in total, the visitors could only make 135 from their 45 overs.

In reply, skipper Alex Carr rode his luck before being dismissed early doors. A few useful partnerships followed with Sam Collis once again anchoring the innings. OD CUACO had their chances, but after surviving two drop catches in an over, Collis capitalised to score an unbeaten 65*.

The 1XI will be back at home again on Saturday as they face Cobham on Cricket Weekend!

The countdown to Cricket Weekend is underway…

We’ve got a packed weekend of fun planned for the August Bank Holiday, starting on Friday with the Golf Day and Quiz!

Golf Day is fully booked, but there’s still time to get your table for the Quiz 🤔

Saturday is party time!
At 2pm, we’ve got our Kids Fun Day, complete with a bouncy castle and BBQ. Then, in the evening, we’ll have live music from Sean Farrelly, followed by karaoke! Fancy dress is encouraged, so get those costumes sorted 💃🏻

Sunday brings the Nick Sandhu Memorial Game, followed by our traditional Cards Night 🃏

Three exciting games of cricket this weekend, with games at Frogs Island on both days…

On Saturday the 1XI host OD CUACO, whilst the 2XI can look to get promoted with a win away at Leeds and Broomfield! On Sunday, it’s the much anticipated game against Kent Royals.

Frindsbury cruised to victory last Saturday…

The Berries produced a dominant performance to secure a 94-run victory, with Jacob Knight leading the way with an excellent 45 as Frindsbury posted 131.

The bowling attack then took complete control. Ruchir Bhomia claimed a superb 5/20, while Nayan Narolia added 4/14, as Maidstone were bowled out for just 37. Dhruvin Patel also chipped in with an economical 1/2 from three overs.

A huge opportunity awaits the 2nd XI with just two victories away from clinching the title!

The 1XI trip up in the race for Division 5 Spitfire…

Old Colfeians won the toss and elected to field first on a slightly cooler afternoon with some sunny spells. Plenty of starts from the Frindsbury batsmen meant the score kept ticking over, but a lack of anyone going on to make a big score meant the side never really accelerated, leaving them slightly below par at 176 all out from their 45 overs.

After his stumble in the first innings, Luke Hills clearly understood the assignment, coming out of the blocks fast and picking up a wicket with his third ball. Bowling the other opener in his second over, The Berries had made the perfect start. With Pemba taking one of his own and Luke removing the league’s leading run scorer for a duck, things were looking very good with the home side 28-4.

Then came a match-winning and well calculated 119-run partnership from opposition numbers 5 & 6. Frindsbury were able to break the partnership, but it was too little, too late as they fell just one wicket short of that all-important third bowling point.

An incredibly disappointing result in such a big game, but there’s still plenty of cricket to be played with three important games to go. The boys will be hoping to reclaim that top spot before the season concludes 💙
