WEEK 18 PREVIEW
And so finally we reached the last league match of the 2026 season and its still all to play for - for two of our teams.

With the 1s over the line as league champions of Division 3, all eyes turn to the 2s and 3s and their respective league endings for different reasons.

The 2s are home to Old Roan at Rayners Meadow in a bottom of the table clash which will go a long way to deciding who stays up in Division 7.

Sam Randall’s gallant 3s, who currently sit in 2nd place visit table topping champions elect Lordswood looking for the points (7) which will guarantee them 2nd place and promotion next year to Division 12.

And of course for good order, the 2026 Division 3 champions, Christopher Maurice’s 1st XI are away for their last day at Catford Cyphers.

So good luck to all those wearing maroon and gold as always. Lets get 3 wins to round off the league season.

Come along and support the teams – there’s plenty of parking at the ground – please try not to park on Christmas Lane – as it interferes with our neighbours and has a knock on effect for buses getting through the narrow road.

WEEK 17 OVERVIEW
Well, sooner or later it had to happen – weather forcing a game to be called off – though for most of this Summer it was more probable that it would have been heat that caused it – but finally the heavens opened and we had rain – yes rain. The parched outfield seems to have forgotten what that even was….

Week 17’s Saturday league matches were all victim to it – with the exception of Sunday, and the last friendly of its kind this season at home to our visitors from Kemsing CC.

Kemsing batted first and amassed 186 for 5 off their 35 overs – a decent knock – with Camron Harding topping our bowling with a marvellous 3 for 8 and Ben Bailey picking up 2 for 19 in support.

In response, Halstow batted down the order with contributions from Oscar T (28) Ray De Bourbon (23) Sam Frawley (39*) and at the top of the list Callum Reilly with (45*) from 34 balls. Target reached with 4.2 ovs to spare for a 5 wicket win.

And so our Sunday 2026 season reads 7 wins from 7 games – a 100% record for our antipodean at the helm Sam Frawley who has organised and led the side with great aplomb. Many a junior in the Club has played, performed and enhanced their positions going forward – the team helping to provide that essential pathway for their development as they progress to the next stages of adult cricket.

2s and 3s COMPLETE CLEAN SWEEP FOR HALSTOW FOR SECOND SUCCESSIVE WEEK
Jamie Kingsbrook’s 2nd XI moved themselves a step closer to safety in Division 7 with a well constructed and deserved home win against Oakfield Warriors at Rayners Meadow.

Winning the toss and batting first – in fits and starts the 2s got to 191 all out in 44.3 ovs – the highlights of the innings being a decent 44 from Lappers and 35 from Collin Lewis, 31 from Harri Patel and a skipper’s 29 from Kingers.

In response the visitors never really got going, losing regular wickets. The star bowling performance came from Kian Cooper with 3 for 29, well supported by Rob O Hara, Harri Patel and Jamie Kingsbrook with 2 wickets each. Ronnie got the final wicket – Halstow winning by 57 runs.

At the Alps, playing Sherwood, Sam Randall’s 3s won convincingly to maintain their grip on 2nd spot in the table with a 4 wicket win.

Fielding first, the star performer was Sophie Lemon with 5 for 24 off her 9 overs. Fantastic!!! She was well supported by Charlie Hutton – in the wickets for the second week in a row (2 for 16.) A wicket each also for Hugo, Aiden and Toby.

Chasing, the total was reached in a mere 23.5 overs, with skipper Sam Randall (29) and Oscar Tomlinson (15) steadying the ship after the loss of three quick wickets, before James Doughty hammered (literally) and Charlie Hutton got us over the line with 20 off 7 balls !!!

1s WIN DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH TWO GAMES TO SPARE
High Halstow 1st XI sealed their second promotion in two successive seasons with a narrow victory away at Bromley Town yesterday and in doing so – went one better than last year – and crowned themselves as divisional champions.

Batting first Bromley Town amassed 237/8 off their 50 overs, the pick of the bowlers being Clark Dockwray with 4 for 38, well supported by Andrew Maurice with 2 for 17.

So a decent target to chase, and in response, Halstow got off to a solid start of 58 for the 1st wicket, (Rhys Fowler 28). Tyler Dockwray patiently working his way through, joined by Andrew Maurice – with 52 off 72 balls before the latter fell on 188/3.

Hayden, Magsy and Nath each joined Tyler to push Halstow over the line and Tyler to his first league 100 – 103 not out from 117 balls and of course held his bat for the entire innings.

So 18 points, which took Halstow over the line for the game and the league. With two games to go against New Beckenham at home next week, and the season concluder at Catford Cyphers the week after away - that moves Halstow 1s to 15 & 1. Top work !!

OUR MATTS BACK RUNNING THE MARATHON AGAIN
That’s right, our Matt… Matt Day, father of up and coming Colts superstar Sam Day is back running the London Marathon again, raising monies and needs our help and support.

Last year Matt was running for High Halstow Cricket Club, and when all was said and done handed over to the Club some £5,200 with gift aid on top !! An absolutely fantastic gesture for which we are so grateful.

This year Matt is taking on the 26 miles in remembrance of his best friend Simon, who past away recently through mental health. Matt is raising monies for the Mental Health Foundation who are helping to change the UKs approach from managing mental ill health to preventing it.
