Our U8 Eagles were at home yesterday and Coach Adam was pleased with how the team played when they got going.

“Under 8 Eagles unfortunately lost today on a very wet morning against a very strong and physical Ramsbottom team. A solid team effort in the end after a bit of a sluggish start with some good football being played with the ball on the ground. Well done to Marshall, Rory and Mason for stepping up and taking over the goalkeeping responsibilities with Miller being away. They all made some really good saves and provided some good distribution from the back. Well done to Marshall and Brian who scored our goals and also again to Marshall who was our Player of the Match, he really grew in to the game with some good footwork and good positioning, I could also hear him shouting for the ball from the sidelines which was really good to hear. 👍”

Coach Ben was pleased with how our U14 Jaguars played yesterday and felt they were unlucky to lose the game.

“Cheetham Hill 2-1 U14 Jaguars.

Unfortunate to lose the game today with a much improved performance compared to the first game of the season. First half was quite scrappy, but we took the lead when Isaac launched a ball into the box from 40yards and it somehow ended up bouncing into the net. Second half we created well and got ourselves into some good positions but couldn’t get the final ball right.

Cheetham Hill were more clinical with their chances, but we did well to limit their shots on goal. Good to see everyone putting a shift in today, but man of the match to Yahya- some nice passes and skill in tight areas of the pitch.”

Our U14 Sharks continued their unbeaten run yesterday at home to Oldham Dynamoes. Coach Dave had this to say:

“U14s MJ Sharks 3 V 1 U13s Oldham Dynamoes

Ayaan and George were today’s players of the match, Ayaan kicked us off with the scoring and George swept up well all game.

It wasn't pretty against a good U13s side who could move the ball well between them, and the weather was awful too 😕

First 20mins we had them pinned on the edge of their own box and they couldn't get out, I feel we could have scored a couple in those first 20mins but we didn't, we eventually took the lead from a good long distance strike from Ayaan.

Oldham started to grow into the game and started to created chances, we held out till H/T.

Second half saw Oldham score to make it 1-1, typical sharks gifting the opposition a very simple avoidable goal.

The pressure was being put on as we, kept going eventually scoring the 2nd & 3rd through Theo. I think we hit the Bar 3 times.

It might not have been great and I keep saying this but we picked up the win and points again against a good little side.

Im sure the performances will start to come 💪🏻”

Our U17 Sharks had their first game of the season today and with Coach Andy at work it was down to Coach Eddie to steer the ship and he was a happy coach 😊

“Milnrow Juniors U17 Sharks played Shaw FC in their first match of the season, the match finished 2-4 to Shaw. But the score doesn't tell the full picture, the Sharks competed well throughout the game and played some great passing phases which moved the team quickly in attack. This was the first game for a couple of our new players and Harris and Keidy, who both gave a good account for themselves and showed signs that they will develop through the season.
The Sharks competed right to the end of 90mins which was a credit to them as we only had a bare 11 players today, if we had a bit more luck or if different decisions made the result could definitely have been different!
Good start and it will give us plenty to work on in training, let's aim for all players to make training this week and we can put some good work in ready for our next match.
MOTM was the whole team for effort and desire, our 2 goals were scored by Brandon - well done ⚽⚽🦈”

It’s sounds like our U12 Vipers had a great game this morning despite the result. Coach Bruno was really happy with how the team played once they got going 😊

“Roach Dynamos white U12 3-2 Milnrow Juniors Vipers U12

What a match today. We started very slow, didn't press deep enough and allowed them to recover the ball in our defence a lot in the first 20 minutes and we were trailing back 2-0. The team switched on, started pressing all over the pitch, got a few chances and Harlow got one back just before the half time whistle. The second half was way different, we played very well and the boys moved very well, searched for the free spaces and with the best passing I have ever seen from our boys in a match. Harlow scored the second going home with a brace, unfortunately we lost too many chances and I think we were very unlucky to not take at least a point from this match. Harlow was the POM but there were a few boys performing very close to take it too.”

Our U11 Lions are playing a year up and were back on form this week after a loss last week. Coach Max was a very proud coach 😊

Our U14 Panthers have continued their great start under new Coach Adib 😊

“Great day for Panthers.

U14 Panthers 8 -5 U14 Heyside.

Very good game today and great win. Game was away and started with 2 goals for Heyside but Panthers never put their heads down and made it 2-2 by the end of the first half.

We started the second half with only one option (need to win). Elvis made some super moves to score then Darilton and Archie completed the job.

Game ended 8 - 5 for Panthers.

Archie 2 goals
Darilton 1 goal

Man of the match went to Tyler. It was his first game for Panthers and he did a perfect job in defence.”

Our U10 Eagles were at home to Brandlesholme this morning in what sounds like another good game with Coach Damien saying this:

“U10 Eagles lost today in a hard fought game against a very good Brandlesholme Tigers side with both sides cancelling each other out. Considering we have a few players that were playing through illness we more than held our own and we managed to get a goal through some nice play between the boys and beating their press. We carried on in the same way until half time but we switched off for the first ten minutes of the second half due to the boys being tired and conceded some goals. We then switched back and had a few chances to get back into the game but luck wasn’t on our side today. Hopefully it will be next week and the chance to hit the back of the net.

Oscar was our goalscorer today.

MOTM - there wasn’t an individual one as it went to the whole team today after a superb performance by all all fighting for each other and working hard when we didn’t have the ball”
