Today 38 adults and juniors took part in the annual Family Trophy forming 16 teams. The winners were Mike and Liz Price with net 30; in second place were Matthew and Josh Duckworth with 31 net on a count back from Steve and Sam Morgan in third place. Liz Price and her father Gwilym Roberts donated the trophy to the club to encourage families to take part and to include the juniors.

The August Stableford competition was held over the weekend with Wayne Jones scoring 38 points to win the competition, just beating David Evans who also scored 38 points to win division 2. Alan Padmore won division1 with Oly Gray in second and Philip Woodward third. Doug Amison was second in division two with Phil Terzo third.

Delyth Edwards won the GUW Medal and Lady Past Captains’ Trophy with Ann Lloyd Jones in second and Brenda Roberts third.

Gareth Humphreys scored an excellent score of 31 points to win week 13 of the mid-week summer league just beating Osian Williams and Alistair Syme who also scored 31 points. Rhys T Jones strengthened his place at the top of the table with an impressive 30 points and takes a seven point lead into the final week with Nia Morgan still in second place and Osian Williams third

President Llwyd Jones held his President Cup competition over the weekend with 58 players taking part. Nigel Roberts or Nige the Milk as he is affectionally known to many was in outstanding form carding a net 59 to win the Presidents Cup 2026. John Ll Williams won division 1 with Gwyn Jones second and Rhys Tudor Jones third. David Cooke won division 2 with Keith Turner second and Phil Terzo third.

Janet Turner won the GUW Medal and Centenary Salver with June Brady in second and Ann Lloyd Jones third. Ann Hughes won the Ladies 9 hole mid-week stableford competition with Beth Wilson second and Marian Jones third.

Meriel Stark scored an excellent 31 points to win week 12 of the mid-week summer league just beating John Vaughan and Mike Whear into second and third respectively. With only two weeks left Rhys maintained his seven point lead over Nia Morgan at the head of the table with Osian Williams in third place.

The annual AM AM competition took place last Friday with 19 teams and 76 players taking part. Overall winners were the team comprising Oly Gray, Arfon Thomas, Gethin J Jones and Capten Sion W Jones who scored an excellent 90 points. Vice-Captain John Vaughan and his team were second with Kyle McCloskey and his team third.

The Ladies Club Championships were held last week with members
competing for both the gross and net club championship.

Catherine Parton won the gross club championship with a gross score of 155 with Janet Turner second and Ann Ellis Davies third

Lady Captain Angie Robinson won the nett club championship with a nett score of 138 over two rounds. Meriel Stark came in second with lady Vice-Captain Alison Muir in third place.

The gents competed for the RNLI Medal 2026 over the weekend with Wyn Roberts in excellent form scoring a net 60 to win the competition. Geoff Gill won division 1 with John Ll Williams second and Nigel Roberts third. Robin Wilson won division 2 with Gethin J Jones second and Kevin Roberts third.

Rhys T Jones was again in excellent form in the mid-week summer league scoring a brilliant 33 points and extending his lead at the top of the table. Gary Evans was just one point back on 32 points with Ana Jonathanova in third place. Rhys now has a seven point lead over Nia Morgan at the head of the table with Osian Williams in third place.

Club Championship weekend at the club last weekend with members competing for both the gross and nett club championship over two rounds.

Adam Smith won the Bartlett Bragg scratch club championship for the sixth time in the last seven years with a score of 140, just beating Frank Kiddie who won division 1 with Andy Gosse second and Rob Cryne third. Colin Moneypenny won division 2 with Charlie Pettigrew in second and Eddie Fitzsimmons in third.

Wayne Jones delivered two very excellent nett rounds of 62 and 66 to win the Tudor House net club championship. Simon Gill won division 1 with Osian Williams second and Ian Lewis third. Gareth Pierce won division 2 with Colin Moneypenny second and Vinny Gill third.

Sue Roberts won the mid-week Molly Jackson Par Trophy just beating June Brady on the back nine with Ann Ellis Davies in third place.

Catherine Parton won week 10 of the summer league just beating Frank Kiddie who also scored 29 points with Nia Morgan a point back on 28. Nia Morgan and Rhys T Jones are now joint leaders at the top of the table with Osian Williams in third place.

Alan Padmore was in brilliant form over the weekend scoring an excellent 60 net to win the Ford Trophy 2026. Alan just beat Gareth Williams and Geoff Gill who both scored net 61s to win division 1 and 2 respectively. Meirion Williams was second in division 1 with Captain Ray Kennedy third. Garry Teeson was second in division 2 with Keith Rogers third.

Another new2golf lady member was in outstanding form this week with Meriel Stark scoring 48 points to win the Marston Stableford Trophy. Carey Kearns was second with Anna Davies third.

Nia Morgan won the nine hole mid-week stableford competition with Pauline Jones second and Alison Scally third.

Alun Vaughan-Evans continued his fine form from last weekend to produce a level par round in the 13 hole summer league scoring 32 points and just beating Charlie Pettigrew who also scored an excellent 32 points. Ann Lloyd Jones scored 31 points to come third. Rhys T Jones maintained his two point lead at the top of the table with Nia Morgan second and Harri Vaughan third

Many congratulations to Mari Gaskell this week for some fantastic scoring.in winning both the GUW Medal and Welsh Dragon Brooch and Week 8 of the Summer league. Mari scored an incredible 12 under her handicap to score 58 to win the GUW Medal and Welsh Dragon Brooch and scored 36 points over 13 holes to win week 8 of the Summer League. Vicky Harrison was second in the GUW medal and Welsh Dragon Brooch with Meriel Stark third. It is really great to see the Ladies from our New to Golf schemes over the last few years coming through, taking part and winning competitions. Last week it was Ann Lloyd Jones, this week Mari Gaskell with another New to Golf lady Meriel Stark coming in third in the GUW Medal and Welsh Dragon Brooch and Nia Morgan challenging for top spot in the Summer League.

The Vaughan-Evans family were in excellent form in the Rover Cup over the weekend. Father Ian brought in a net 62 on Saturday morning only to be greeted in the afternoon by his smiling son Alun who scored a net 61 to win the competition. Many congratulations Alun on winning your first Board competition. Peter Jones, another Gellifor lad, won division 1 with a net 63 with Stephen Davies second and Joshua Duckworth third. Ian Vaughan-Evans won division 2 with Geoff Gill second and Garry Teeson third.

Mari Gaskell won week 8 of the summer League, five points clear of Calvin Cooledge and Wayne Jones in second and third. All the top players now have their best seven scores in for the Summer League and Rhys T Jones still leads the table closely followed by Nia Morgan in second two points behind and Osian Williams in third.
