☀️Top tips for hot weather golf 🥵

• Wide brimmed hat or cap and sunscreen

• Freeze water bottles ahead of your game

• Take a large flask of iced water to top up your water bottles throughout the round

• Wet and freeze a small sports towel, place in the chiller section of your golf bag if you have one, apply to your neck and inside forearms whenever you feel the heat

• Take a small spray bottle containing cold water and mist your face and arms periodically

• Walk steadily keeping your breath even to avoid over-exerting yourself

• Stand in the shade at every opportunity

• Use an umbrella as a parasol - great if you have a trolley with an umbrella holder

The English Senior Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship is under way at Abbeydale Golf Club in Sheffield, with one round completed and two to go.

Spotted at least 8 participants from Berkshire clubs on the various leaderboards - let’s give them a cheer! 🙌

Also under way: the English Women’s Strokeplay Championship at Ganton Golf Club, Scarborough, which attracts elite amateur players from around the globe.

After round 1 Castle Royle’s Bella Kent is lying joint 15th on level par, 5 behind the leader. If she can stay in the top 40 after round 2, she will make the cut to play the final day (36 holes). Go Bella! 🙌
