World Mental Health Day 2025

Karate is more than movement — it’s a space to breathe, refocus, and reconnect.

At tanoshi Karate, we follow the Karate For Mental Health CIC approach — using karate to support mental wellbeing, confidence, and calm.
Training gives us time to slow down, clear the mind, and build strength from the inside out.

Note to self- don't run through all 22 katas you know in one go😅

Our first Open Session class is done,
From cancer survivors, deafness to anxious and on the autism spectrum working with karate to better their physical and mental health.

This is a free class that welcomes everyone, and uses martial art to improve all round wellbeing. Project is funded by the Community Foundation for Surrey in association with All Round Karate Guildford and Black Badger BJJ

When martial arts goes wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️

Nothing serious, just a wrist sprain, but it goes to show no matter what belt you are or how experienced you are, the risk is always there, especially when you have joint problems.

Lesson learned: 30 year old chronically ill wrists require binding when having repeated impact on things 👍🏼
