Last Saturday, Co-ED David was out on the course with the camera, and judging by the number of smiles, waves and thumbs up, you were either having an absolutely brilliant time... or putting on an Oscar-worthy performance the moment you spotted the lens. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Either way, we've got the photographic evidence!

Happy scrolling... and remember, we can neither confirm nor deny who was posing for the camera. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ“ท

This week's event didn't appear by magic. It was powered by a group of wonderful humans in hi-viz who got up on a Saturday morning, choosing volunteering over a lie-in. Questionable decision? Maybe. Appreciated? Absolutely.

Fancy swapping your running shoes for a hi-viz one week? Have a look at this week's roster to see the different roles on offer here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/reading/futureroster/

Most are way easier than they look, and you'll almost certainly leave knowing a few more people than when you arrived.

Drop us an email at [email protected] with your parkrun barcode number and let us know which role you'd like to try. The roster won't fill itself. (We've checked.)

Passing over very quickly we are a bit late for , we'd like to wish Hannah, Oliver, Zhenpeng, Joseph and Gjis a very happy ๐Ÿ˜‰

As a side note, Gjis volunteered for the very first time last week after he said he felt that reaching 250 runs without volunteering made him feel guilty. Thank you Gjis. ๐Ÿ™

But it reminded us that volunteering isn't a "missed" parkrun. It's simply a different way to enjoy Saturday morning, and one that's celebrated with the same milestone clubs as running. As we like to say, it's 100% optional and 100% awesome.

Sun, fun, and another 5k done! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thankfully the temperature this morning was not as hot as recent days and weeks, meaning our usual walk, jog and run was not as hard as it could have been.

A slow 5k is just as far as a fast 5k, so well done to everyone who made it to the finish line today. ๐Ÿ‘

Another big thank you to all as we had no tokens go missing today! All 327 tokens came back safe and sound! ๐Ÿ™Œ

If you need to check the full results table it can be found here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/reading/results/713/

We'll do it all again next week. Same time, same place, same 5k.

Who's ready for another parkunday?

If you need a little bit of motivation, then this great run report about last week's event from tourist Eddy Bamber should help ๐Ÿ‘‡
https://www.parkrun.org.uk/reading/news/2026/07/17/reading-parkrun-event-712-run-report/

A completely (not) random quote: "The course at Reading is a delight."

Phew! We were all welcome for the shade in the nature reserve and next to the finish straight today!๐Ÿฅต

Another hot one saw not quite as many PBs as normal, but then that's a good sign most people were doing the sensible thing and taking it easy. ๐Ÿ‘

Whether you used it for refreshment on the spot, or have popped in it in the fridge ahead of the big game tonight to let it help you stay awake,a big thanks to Kenco for popping along with welcome free samples today. ๐ŸงŠโ˜•๏ธ

The results are now online at: www.parkrun.org.uk/reading/results/712/

See you all again next week. Same place. Same time Same 5k.

A reminder that it is due to be a hot one tomorrow with forecast temperatures of between 23ยฐC and 25ยฐC. So make sure you have plenty to drink tonight before parkrunday to make sure you are hydrated before the start.

Also, it's not a great idea to push too hard; take it easy, and please don't bring your dog. Heatstroke is very dangerous for our four-legged friends.

To help you recover, our friends from Kenco will be at Reading parkrun tomorrow โ€“ Saturday 11 July โ€“ with something for you to try ๐Ÿ‘€

Look out for them when you finish your parkrun to grab a free sample of Kenco Iced Espresso in a can.

๐Ÿ˜ŽBeat the heat... and be one of the 7 people we still need to help make Reading parkrun happen

With temperatures forecast to reach 23 to 25ยฐC during Saturday's event, this could be the perfect week to swap your running shoes for a high-vis vest and enjoy a slightly cooler way to get your parkrun fix. We still need:

โณ 2 x Timekeeper
๐Ÿ“ฒ 3 x Barocde Scanners
๐Ÿ—ฃ 1 x Funnel Manager
๐Ÿ”ข 1 x Number Checker

Just email [email protected] with your name, barcode, and which role you'd like to do, and we'll add you to the superhero team.

Waiting for England's ridiculously late World Cup kick-off? We've got something to keep you busy until then... โšฝ๐Ÿ˜‰

This week's Reading parkrun run report comes from a parkrun tourist who dragged themselves out of Bournemouth at silly o'clock to finally tick off their last "R" in the alphabet challenge.

Go on, give it a click. You won't regret it. ๐Ÿ‘‡

We're back! And it turns out two weeks off hasnโ€™t made us any less enthusiastic about parkrun.

This morning we were on our three lap alternative course while the Sea Cadets Regatta took over the usual setup.

A huge thank you to everyone who kept right and overtook on the left. You made a busier-than-usual route run smoothly, which is no small achievement when you add an extra lap to a few hundred people trying to pretend they know exactly where theyโ€™re going.

We also have it on good authority that a small group of finishers were later seen in the general direction of the Sea Cadets bacon roll stand. No further comments at this time ๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿ‘€

Results are now processed and available here:
https://www.parkrun.org.uk/reading/results/711

Normal service resumes next Saturday as we return to our usual two lap course. Same time, one less (but longer) laps, same questionable decisions about pacing. See you then!
