Game 1 – Wycombe 1–0 South Reading Ladies A

South Reading Ladies A opened their new season with a closely fought and tense encounter against Wycombe. Both teams created opportunities, but inaccurate finishing and good goalkeeping at either end kept the game goalless for much of the match.

Unfortunately, a defensive mistake from South Reading gave a Wycombe forward the opportunity they needed, and they made no mistake in finding the back of the net. Despite the narrow defeat, it was an encouraging opening performance in a very competitive game.

Game 2 – Woking Perform 1–0 South Reading Ladies A
South Reading Ladies A suffered another narrow 1–0 defeat against Woking Perform in another evenly matched contest.
The ladies created some excellent chances and played with determination, but were repeatedly denied by some outstanding goalkeeping from the Woking keeper. South Reading worked hard throughout and were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, with the game ultimately decided by a single goal.
Another strong effort from the A Team despite the result.

Game 3 – South Reading Ladies A 1–1 Bicester

Bicester started the better of the two sides and went ahead with a well-worked team goal, but South Reading exerted a great deal of pressure on the Bicester goal in search of an equaliser. That pressure eventually paid off when a fine through ball from Bridget Lockwood Snr found Hannah Elizabeth Turnbull on the right side of the pitch.
Hannah controlled the ball and turned towards goal in one movement. Instead of shooting from where she turned, she carried the ball into a more central position to secure a better shooting angle before striking the ball cleanly and accurately past the diving keeper and low into the corner of the Bicester goal.
A fantastic finish from Hannah to bring South Reading level at 1–1 and earn the ladies their first point of the season. A great response from the team! 💛💚

Game 4 – South Reading Ladies A 0–0 Maidenhead A

Game four saw South Reading Ladies A take on Maidenhead A in another evenly contested match.

Both teams worked hard defensively and cancelled each other out, resulting in very few clear-cut chances and limited goalmouth action. Neither side was able to find the breakthrough despite plenty of effort and determination.

The points were ultimately shared in a goalless draw, giving South Reading another valuable point as they headed into their final game of the day.

Game 5 – Cheshunt 0–1 South Reading Ladies A
South Reading Ladies A finished the day in fantastic fashion with a hard-earned 1–0 victory over Cheshunt, one of the stronger teams in the division.
It was a brave, disciplined and well-controlled performance from the whole team. The winning goal came from Cara Ann , who confidently converted a penalty to give South Reading the lead. She kept her composure to fire the ball into the corner of the net, leaving the Cheshunt goalkeeper with no chance.
A brilliant way to finish the tournament, with the A Team ending the day with one win, two draws and two defeats. A huge well done to every player for their fantastic effort and commitment, especially in the very warm conditions! 💛💚

Game 1 – South Reading Ladies B 0–0 Hersham B

South Reading Ladies B opened their new season with a spirited and controlled performance against Hersham B. After a summer of strong training, the improvement in the team was clear as they matched Hersham throughout a closely fought opening game. Both sides created opportunities, but excellent goalkeeping at either end ensured the game finished goalless, with a well-deserved point for both teams.
A special mention goes to Camilla Lovell , making her competitive debut in goal after only recently taking up the position. She showed fantastic positional awareness, calmness and some excellent reflex saves with both hands and feet, giving confidence to the defenders in front of her. A brilliant start to the tournament and a well-earned clean sheet.

Game 2 – Oxford U B 1–0 South Reading Ladies B
South Reading Ladies B faced a very good Oxford U B side in another tightly contested match. The ladies started brightly, creating early chances while also showing good possession and composure as they built pressure.
It looked as though the game was heading for another goalless draw, but a late defensive error allowed Oxford to find the breakthrough and take all three points. Despite the result, South Reading produced another solid and controlled performance, with every player working incredibly hard. The ladies certainly didn't deserve to lose, but that's football!

Game 3 – South Reading Ladies B 1–0 Northants Falcons
South Reading Ladies B responded perfectly to their narrow defeat against Oxford with an excellent 1–0 victory over Northants Falcons.
From the first minute, South Reading looked in control, producing a strong defensive display which allowed them to build their attacking play with confidence. Their pressure eventually paid off when striker Tyra took her opportunity brilliantly, turning with the ball before striking a fine low shot beyond the Northants goalkeeper.
A fantastic all-round performance from the ladies, showing great determination, composure and just how much the team has progressed.

Game 4 – Wycombe 0–0 South Reading Ladies B
South Reading Ladies B continued their impressive tournament with another closely fought game against Wycombe.
The ladies created plenty of chances and were unlucky not to come away with the win. Wycombe's goalkeeper produced several excellent saves to keep South Reading at bay and ultimately ensured the score remained 0–0.
Another strong defensive performance combined with good attacking play earned South Reading a well-deserved point. The ladies continued to show excellent teamwork and determination despite the demands of a busy tournament schedule.

Game 5 – South Reading Ladies B 0–0 Denham
South Reading Ladies B finished their five-game tournament with a hard-fought goalless draw against Denham. With the warm weather and a demanding day of football taking its toll, tiredness was inevitably becoming a factor, but the ladies dug deep to see the final game through and earn another valuable point.
Across all five matches, the team showed fantastic commitment and improvement. Camilla finished the day with an incredible four clean sheets and just one goal conceded, while Mel Lockett led the team brilliantly as captain. Anna Bartkowiak and Wendy Jane were solid in defence, with Elena Griffin , Clare Rees Jones and Tyra Beg providing plenty of attacking threat. Lisa-Jane also made an excellent tournament debut.
The ladies were brilliantly supported and coached from the touchline by Aaron Priest , responding well to his instructions throughout the day. A huge well done and thank you to everyone for their fantastic effort and performances! 💛💚

⚽ Game 1 — South Reading A vs Basingstoke Waspettes
South Reading Ladies A took on the Basingstoke Waspettes in the first of four friendly matches.
It was an even encounter between two teams who played the game in a fantastic spirit. The South Reading A ladies secured a narrow 1–0 victory, setting the tone for the evening.
The only goal of the game was scored by Mel, who produced a lovely, calm finish following some excellent build-up play from the ladies. A composed side-foot finish was enough to settle the first encounter.
A great start to the evening from the South Reading A team. 💚💛⚽

⚽ Game 2 — South Reading A vs South Reading B
Game 2 saw our two South Reading Ladies teams face each other, with the usual friendly but competitive in-house rivalry there for all to see!
Tyra played in goal for the B team for the first time and made some fine early saves as the B team came under pressure from the A team.
Eventually, that pressure told, with Toni opening the scoring before Hannah added two more to complete a 3–0 victory for South Reading A.
But take nothing away from our B team ladies, who fought hard throughout. Clare worked tirelessly and tested A team keeper Sandie on a number of occasions.
A great competitive game between our own ladies, played with plenty of determination and good spirit. 💚💛⚽

⚽ Game 3 — South Reading B vs Basingstoke Waspettes
Game 3 saw our South Reading Ladies B team take on the Basingstoke Waspettes.
The B team came out on top in another close-fought and lively encounter.
The Waspettes created some excellent chances through some very good build-up play, but they were unable to find the back of the net thanks to some fine defending from our B team ladies.
Eventually, Clare opened the scoring with a fantastic finish, hitting the roof of the net from just outside the area after some strong shielding of the ball.
Tyra then added a second with a calm finish to settle the game at 2–0 in favour of South Reading B.
A brilliant performance from the B team and another game played in great spirit. 💚💛⚽

⚽ Game 4 — South Reading Combined vs Basingstoke Waspettes
The fourth and final game was an 8-a-side match, giving players from both sides one final run-out, with a mixture of our South Reading A and B ladies taking on the Waspettes.
The South Reading combined side came away with a 2–0 victory.
Toni opened the scoring, before the highlight of the game came with a fantastic second goal from Elena.
After some excellent build-up play, the ball was played out from defence towards the right side of the pitch. Hannah delivered a lovely cross into Elena, who finished with a clean right-footed strike low into the right corner of the net.
A fantastic finish from a very much improving player. Well done, Elena! 👏⚽
The final score was 2–0, bringing a fantastic evening of walking football to a close.
Most importantly, all four matches were played in a wonderful spirit of friendliness, respect and sportsmanship between South Reading Ladies and the Basingstoke Waspettes.
Every player was a credit to the sport of walking football, and most importantly, everyone enjoyed the evening.

South Reading Ladies 50s took part in the inaugural TVWFL Ladies Cup alongside teams from Watford, Bracknell, Woking, Oxford, Maidenhead and Woodley, producing an impressive team performance to finish fourth out of seven.

The day began with a narrow 1-0 defeat to eventual winners Watford, despite a strong display and several chances to equalise. A well-worked team goal, finished by captain Cara, secured a deserved 1-0 victory over Woodley in the second match.

South Reading then earned four consecutive goalless draws against Bracknell, Woking, Maidenhead and Oxford. Outstanding defending, excellent goalkeeping from Mel, and strong teamwork ensured the side remained difficult to break down throughout the tournament, while also creating opportunities of their own.

The team finished with one win, four draws and one defeat, collecting seven points in a highly competitive field. Every player contributed superbly, with special praise for debutants Camilla and Sarah, who both impressed in their first walking football tournament.

A big thank you to Mel, Claire, Jane, Bridget, Elena, Clare, Cara, Camilla and Sarah for their commitment and effort. The squad can take plenty of confidence into the next tournament.

💚💛 40s Ladies Summer Tournament | Bisham Abbey | Sunday 5th July 💛💚

A fantastic day of football for our South Reading Ladies 40s as they battled through a highly competitive Group D.

The ladies opened with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Hersham, before earning another point in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Maidenhead thanks to a superb team goal from Lisa. A 4-0 defeat to tournament favourites Bracknell Blue meant we finished 3rd in the group with 2 points, securing a place in the quarter-finals.
In the last eight, we faced league champions Woking Flamingos, putting in another determined display before bowing out 2-0.
The scorelines don't tell the full story—every player showed tremendous commitment, teamwork and resilience throughout the day. Plenty of positives to build on, and we're incredibly proud of all 9 ladies who represented South Reading with such passion and determination.

👏 Well done, South Reading Ladies 40s! The hard work continues, and we'll come back even stronger. 💚⚽💛

⚽💚💛 SOUTH READING LADIES A TEAM – LEAGUE CAMPAIGN COMPLETE! 💚💛⚽

The South Reading Ladies A Team brought their TVWFL league campaign to a close on Sunday 7th June with an excellent display of determination, teamwork and quality football throughout the day.

The ladies played some of their best football of the season, starting with a well-earned goalless draw against a physically strong Luton side. They then suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Warriors in a very evenly contested match, before coming up against the eventual league champions, Walton & Hersham, who claimed a 3-0 victory.

The highlight of the day came in a fantastic 1-0 win over a strong Watford team. A superb goal from Cara Jones proved to be the difference, earning the ladies a memorable victory against the then league leaders and dealing a significant blow to their title hopes. It was a tremendous performance full of commitment, discipline and belief from South Reading. 👏⚽⭐
The season concluded with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Fleet, with an own goal from Fleet securing the ladies a deserved final point of the campaign.

Throughout the day, the team showed great resilience, excellent teamwork and the positive spirit that has been evident all season. Their efforts were rewarded with a very respectable 4th-place finish in a competitive league.
Well done to all the players for their hard work, dedication and fantastic team spirit throughout the season. You should all be incredibly proud of what you've achieved. 💛💚👏

A special mention to Tracy Allen, who recieved a special recognition award for her strength and resilience in her continued therapy. She also put in shift on the pitch 👏🏻💯👍🏻💚💛
