THE ROYALS’ LAST RODEO FOR THE SEASON. Our girls travel to Harpenden today for their last match of the season, hoping to go out with a bang! Sunday 19th April, 11:00 draw 🥍

🩵 Thank you for the match a couple weeks ago! A hard-fought game and huge improvement all round for the Royals… even if a couple of post-game A&E trips proved just how committed everyone was!

🥍 Player’s Player: Amy () takes it for some absolute blinders, textbook shooting at its finest. Add in her strong defensive work and signature mid-pass take-downs, and she was a real force on pitch.

🥍 Coach’s Player: Laura () had a sensational game, racking up interceptions and turnovers. One of the safest pairs of hands when bringing the ball out of defence, an absolute pleasure to play alongside!

🥍 No DOD this week but special shoutouts to Charlie for some incredible saves and pinpoint clears. And Molly, our youngest player, stepping into her first game with us in what was no easy match, she played with confidence and composure beyond her experience!

The girls hope to continue both the sunny and winning streak playing Guildford 2’s at home this weekend. We’d love to have you down to support at our grounds at Queen Anne’s School, Caversham RG4 6DX. Sunday 15th March, 10:30 draw 🥍

🩵 Although the team arrived in London with just enough players to fill a starting line up, the entire team hustled hard resulting in a spectacular scorecard! Every player on the pitch received a shoutout for the tenacity and energy they displayed. Thanks for hosting !

🥍 Player’s Player: Hannie () for her double hat trick, speedy fast breaks and also for going down HARD in the first quarter and playing the rest of the game with the same amount of verve as she started with, love to see it!

🥍 Coach’s Player: Sophie () had a wonderful game, often a thankless job as a defender, she stepped up this game to provide huge slides that stopped intense fast breaks by Hillcroft. She listened to direction and immediately adjusted her play resulting in game changing decisions and fluid turnovers to transitions though out.

🥍 DOD: Also Sophie () for getting a yellow card within literally the first 5 mins of the game…

After a few very soggy weeks resulting in postponed matches, we finally had a day of (some) sun. The team braved the London traffic to face Hillcroft away. Sunday 22 February, 11:30 draw 🥍

🩵 A belated match report for the Royals’ game against Camden earlier in February. Although not a win for the Royals, the team were all over the ground balls and won a significant amount of centre draws.

🥍 Player’s Player: Frankie () consistently put in a fantastic shift with insane interceptions, always being in the right place to take a feed and shot on goal, being an instrumental part of our midfield and rarely taking credit for it. She even took a tumble and still managed pass the ball from the floor despite the two players looming over her.

🥍 Coach’s Player: Jess () got a fabulous hat trick and was constantly moving into space, looking for the assists and working her butt off for the team!

🥍 DOD: Jess () likes to overachieve and went two for two with dingbat of the day as well. She leisurely set up for a penalty shot and seemed startled(?) by the whistle and so proceeded to look affronted and loudly announce “but I wasn’t ready” all while standing stock still. A check from Clapham seemed to kick her back into action though.

Today sees the Royals back on home turf for a match against 2s. Please come down to support at Queen Anne’s School, Caversham (and probably bring wellies!) Sunday 1st February, 11:00 draw 🥍

🩵 Thank you to Caterham () for a wonderful first game of the year. We’re super proud of the professional demonstration of a match from the Royals, working their butts off for each other and a fabulous show of real, tangible growth and improvement from the start of the season. Everyone played a key part in the game.

🥍 Player’s Player: Dani () for her cheeky hat-trick and for winning balls on the draw, running up and down the pitch, shutting down cuts, and being a menace for the other team!

🥍 Coach’s Player: Often a defender’s job goes unnoticed but Eleanor () did her job incredibly well, being the ball out of defence multiple times and playing a key part in the reliable defensive unit.

🥍 DOD: Charlie () gets this one for shouting “Get up you *redacted*” at the Coach after she reportedly slid off of the pitch with quite some force.

Our 2025 training drew to a close with the annual Reading and Royals Christmas Training extravaganza. Effort for Christmas attire was not spared amongst our players, please see video evidence above🎄
