I’ve spoken before about my love of imagery in coaching, and a cable car travelling through a snowy mountain range is one I often return to when coaching topics and goals are being established.

I describe us starting at the peak of a snowy mountain: your ‘point A’, where you are right now in your life or career.

We look towards another peak: your ‘point B’, where you might want to move towards, or what you’d like to be different.

Then we hop in a cable car (ideally with a Baileys hot chocolate in hand) and the journey (coaching) begins.

But what happens when you can’t see your point B?

When there’s so much fog that you can barely see your own hand in front of you?

This was the case for someone I coached around 18 months ago. They felt stuck in their working life. They knew something needed to change but couldn’t see what the alternatives might be.

They described feeling “stuck on a mountain with the fog and cold all around.” They were focussed on “hunkering down and just surviving.”

Through our conversations, we explored what ‘point B’ could look like. Not choosing a destination, but improving their visibility across the mountain range.

By the end of our sessions, they described how coaching had “helped to lift the fog” and how they could clearly see a few mountains across the range to potentially travel to.

Over the following months, they explored, made decisions and progressed in their career. They’ve since moved into a new role with a different organisation and are now thinking about what might come next.

And this is what I love about it.

The fog lifting didn’t mean they’d found the ‘right’ mountain. It meant they could see there were options.

That’s what coaching can do: offer a new perspective, help you see a possibility you hadn’t considered, or create that little lightbulb moment.

Then comes the real-life bit. No new shiny life by Monday. The experimenting. The trying. The things that don’t quite work. The trying again.

Sometimes you know your point B. Sometimes you’re still figuring it out. Either way, you don’t need the whole route mapped out before you take the next step.

As always, I’d love to hear about your experiences.

This client came to me after leaving a role that had deeply affected their confidence. Together, we worked on rebuilding self-belief, setting healthy boundaries, communicating needs, and trusting their own judgement.

As our work progressed, they began to recognise their own worth, feel more confident asking for what they needed, and approach their new role with a renewed sense of confidence.

I’m so grateful to have been part of their journey.

“The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”

I’ve been thinking about this, today, as I’ve finished working with a ‘Spring Reset’ client.

Often people don’t need a whole new life. They just need enough space to hear themselves again. That’s where the practical side of my coaching comes in.

Together, we create some space, get clear on what’s actually going on, and work out practical changes that fit your real life.

I don’t believe in changing your life by Monday. I believe in making changes that still work on a busy Tuesday.

Because coaching isn’t really about what happens in our sessions. It’s about what happens when real life kicks back in.

📝 When the to-do list is endless.
🙋 When someone asks one more thing of you.
🔄 When old habits would be easier.
🚫 Saying no without guilt.
☕ Taking five minutes with your coffee.
📧 Finally sending the email you’ve been avoiding.
🤝 Asking for help.
🛡️ Protecting the boundary you promised yourself you’d keep.
🌿 Choosing good enough instead of chasing perfect.

It’s NEVER about perfection, just small, sustainable changes that - over time - can make a big difference.

And that’s exactly why I love this work.

This morning, I overheard my youngest son repeat one of my favourite sayings, and it stopped me in my tracks...

There's something so powerful about hearing your own words reflected back at you.

But, it made me question whether I still believe it.

How much of what we're waiting for actually requires us to take the first step?

Swipe through and let me know what you think:

Do good things come to those who wait?

Or to those who act?

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I met a friend for brunch, today. When I say friend, what I really mean is a soul sister 🥰

We had our favourite avocado and feta on sourdough. I’m OBSESSED with this btw - please don’t ever take it off the menu

We’re both May babies and exchanged belated birthday gifts…

Unknowingly, we’d both gone for the book accompanied by chocolate theme 📕 🍫

I can confirm the chocolate biscuits are amazing and I very begrudgingly shared a couple with my boys, in celebration of the start of half-term

My heart feels full 💝

May the fourth be with you.

And a happy birthday to me.

Another year older, another year wiser 🤞🏻.

Forever grateful to have spent the day (and weekend) with loved ones.

So appreciative of thoughtful gifts that speak to my 💝.

I’m making the most of this glorious blue sky, and the last of the daffodils, with my coffee this morning. I’m still very much enjoying my EB Hot Cross Bun mug too. I’m all over the place with my seasons this year (see my January post about Hot Cross Bun scoffing) and it’s liberating to break the ‘rules!’

Enjoy your Friday ☀️

I LOVE going to my monthly book club, it’s always such a laugh! Great company, lovely coffee, and delicious food that gives you a big hug 🤗 - what more could you want?

I joined the book club whilst navigating some big changes. I was feeling displaced and, at times, really sad. The book club has supported me to reconnect with the small things that light me up, that bring me JOY 😍.

I recently wrote a blog post about this if you fancy a read: https://www.laurahuntercoaching.co.uk/post/rediscovering-my-core-values-and-how-a-cosy-book-club-evening-helped-me-reconnect-with-mine

All logged off for Easter and kicking off the festivities with a much-anticipated M&S Extremely Lemony Hot Cross Bun, a coffee in my very apt EB Hot Cross Bun mug, and an episode of The Other Bennet Sister 😍

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend.

Laura.
