Moving a casualty through water can be incredibly difficult, especially when you may not be able to see what your walking on. Mud, rocks, debris… responders need to ensure they can move safely.
Thankfully, wading poles can be used to slowly feel for submerged obstacles, or unseen hazards. Ensuring the task can be completed without issue.

This weekend NSTC Lion supported to provide training to their search technicians.
Operating around water is a significant challenge with some fairly high risks. Couple that with a casualty who is likely going to be utterly terrified. Technicians need the skills and competency, to inspire confidence and save life.
Training, under experienced supervision is key to the development of skills and in turn, competency.

Good evening,
We have had a number of enquiries about the fire at in . We can confirm that the ongoing fire incident, currently being masterfully managed by is a neighbouring site, and there is no risk to the National Seamanship Training Centre at this time.
We have personnel on site and will continue to have, until the incident has reached its conclusion.

Today we received confirmation of funding for a new mini submersible to join our fleet of vessels

The team came to the aid of some locals when they recently took an unexpected dip. After misjudging their footing.
As you can see on these thermal images the temperatures are still pretty cold, and cold water shock can be deadly.
