🤸♀️ PLAYTIME 🤸♀️
I saw a reel last week about how yoga is less popular than Pilates because yoga is too ‘flowy’…
I beg to differ. 😂
Flow is just one tiny, teeny, insy-winsy part of yoga.
And I don’t think yoga is less popular than Pilates anyway. This whole Britney v Aguilera s**z needs to stop. It’s very nineties/noughties. 😂
I do think there’s an interesting reason we’re seeing such a huge rise in Pilates though.
The industry can sell you STUFF.
And that’s much harder to do with yoga.
Because what do you actually need?
A mat. Maybe a couple of blocks.
That ain’t going to make anyone rich in a hurry.
And this is exactly why I love yoga.
You don’t actually need a single thing to practise.
Meditation? You.
Pranayama? You.
Asana? You.
The rest of the eight limbs? Still you.
YOU 🫵🏻
No magical equipment.
No gimmicks.
No expensive matching outfits.
No fancy gym membership.
Just you.
And your mat.
And depending on what you’re doing, not even that. 😂
The endless facets of yoga are what keep me completely obsessed with it.
I could build a thousand different classes around one single pose and make every single one feel completely different.
You can make it strong.
You can make it playful.
You can make it sweaty.
You can make it still.
You can make it challenging.
You can make it ridiculously simple.
Yoga has never been about one particular way of moving.
It’s about having an enormous toolbox and learning how to use it.
So yes, sometimes we flow.
Sometimes we don’t.
And sometimes we just play. 🤸♀️
