Portadown Cycling Club โ€“ Ladies Run ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜•๐Ÿ’™

What a fantastic morning for our PCC Ladies Run, with 13 female cyclists and 3 male support riders taking part in a wonderfully successful and enjoyable outing.

The route was expertly organised by Jenny and Judith, and it was lovely to see such a great turnout of PCC female members, including, Jenny, Mandy, Judith, Glynis Siobhan and Jo.

Our male PCC mechanical and support team โ€“ Ian, Brian and Nilo โ€“ were kept on their toes, with mechanical assistance required very soon after setting offโ€ฆ and on more than one occasion thereafter ๐Ÿคฃ Their help and patience were greatly appreciated throughout the morning.

A special thank you also to Paul Wharton, who joined us en route and captured some fabulous photographs and Nilo for the brilliant video footage of the ride.

We were delighted to welcome Linda, Kellie, Deirdre, Gladys, Jennifer and Anne. Each of these ladies was an inspiration to herself and to the group, and it was wonderful to share the morning together.

The group met shortly after 09:00 hrs, with greetings and a safety briefing given by Jo before we rolled out at 09:30 hrs.

The pace was relaxed throughout, ensuring that everyone felt included, comfortable and safe at all times.

Our coffee stop at Sintons Cafรฉ, Scarva was a real highlight.

We were also delighted to be joined there by the lovely Roz (Brianโ€™s wife) and the one and only Flo McNally, a long-standing treasure and honorary member of our wee cycling club.

To everyone who helped in any way, thank you.

To those members unable to attend you were missed ๐Ÿ’ž

The morning was a wonderful example of teamwork, support and encouragement, and it made for a very enjoyable morning of cycling, fun and friendship.
And to top it all off, we were blessed with lovely weather too! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜•๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’™

They Did It!

After three days, 500km, and an incredible amount of effort, our Pedal for Purpose cyclists have officially crossed the finish line at Bassetts Portadown!

We are absolutely blown away by their dedication and perseverance. This monumental journey was all for an amazing cause, raising much-needed funds for three vital local charities:
NI Childrenโ€™s Hospice (Bassettsโ€™ Charity of the Year)
Macmillan Cancer Support (Mandeville Unit)
NI Chest, Heart & Stroke

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported the cyclists along the way and donated to these deserving charities. Your generosity has made a real difference.

The fundraising page will remain open for a little while longer if you'd like to show your support:

Get ready to Pedal for Purpose! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Our amazing staff at Bassetts are gearing up for a huge challenge this August: a 500KM, three-day charity cycle across Northern Ireland, connecting nine of our branches.

The event will take place from 20th to 22nd August and aims to raise ยฃ30,000 for three vital local charities:
- NI Childrenโ€™s Hospice (Bassettsโ€™ Charity of the Year)
- Macmillan Cancer Support (Mandeville Unit)
- NI Chest, Heart & Stroke

The cycle is being led by a team of local cycling enthusiasts from Armagh, including Bassettsโ€™ Operations Manager Colin Warnock, who will be joined by staff, supporters, and customers taking part in legs of the journey.

The route will take cyclists across Northern Ireland, stopping at nine Bassetts branches in:
Newry, Downpatrick, Belfast East, Lisburn, Clady, Coleraine, Derry, Omagh, Enniskillen, Dungannon and Portadown.

Our Operations Manager, Colin Warnock, said:
โ€œPedal for Purpose is more than just a cycle, itโ€™s about coming together as a company and a community to support causes that really matter. Weโ€™re proud to be fundraising for charities that do vital work across Northern Ireland, and itโ€™s been fantastic to see the enthusiasm from our staff and branches. Whether itโ€™s on the bike, running local events or simply spreading the word, itโ€™s a team effort, and one Iโ€™m incredibly proud to be part of.โ€

Our branches will be hosting their own fundraising events, from BBQs and raffles to spin-a-thons, helping to drive donations and connect with customers and local communities.

You can help us support this campaign through Pedal For Purposeโ€™s official fundraising page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/miles-with-meaning-pedal-for-purpose

Regular updates will be shared across our social channels, with live progress tracking, behind-the-scenes content, and highlights from the road!
