The 5 Islands - Gig Race

Hi everyone,

We’re really sorry to say that we’ve had to cancel our regatta this year. Unfortunately, not enough crews have signed up to cover the costs of running the event. The gig racing calendar is incredibly busy at the moment, with lots of weekend commitments stretching clubs’ resources, finances and the availability of towers, and we completely understand how hard it is for everyone to get crews out.

Our treasurer will be in contact shortly to arrange a refund of your registration fee.

We hope to welcome you back next year and will look at choosing a date earlier in the season when things are a little less pressured.

If your crew would still like to come along for a relaxed social row, swim and picnic on the Sunday, we have five gigs available. There’s also public launching at Baiter. Just send me your numbers and we’ll allocate boats on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Thanks for your understanding, and we hope to see you on the water soon.

🚣 The 5 Islands Regatta is back for 2026! 🏴‍☠️

After four brilliant years, we're welcoming crews back to Poole Harbour on 15th–16th August for the long race, sprints, trophies up for grabs, and a Friday night get-together to kick it all off.

🌊 What an incredible 5 Islands' Race weekend!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water, brilliant racing, great sportsmanship, and plenty of smiles all round.
Thank you to every single crew who took part, travelled from near and far, and brought such amazing energy to the event. 💙

A huge shout-out to our brilliant Club Chairman, Austin, whose hard work and organisation made this event possible, and to every single PGRC member plus friends and supporters who gave their time and energy to make the day run so smoothly. 🙌

👏 Special congratulations to Weymouth Gig Rowing Club for rowing hard and taking the win, what a race!

We did have a small hiccup with some merch pre-orders (thanks to a sneaky tech glitch!) a few items weren’t available on the day. We’re on it and will get them shipped out ASAP – thanks for bearing with us. 🙏

From the first stroke to the last cheer, the atmosphere was electric and we have to say, you all looked absolutely fantastic out there. 💪🔥
