Our Thursday Junior Sailing Club has sadly drawn to a close for the year. But we saw it out in style yesterday with our first ever End of Summer Fun Day!

The afternoon started with junior sailors and lots of instructors paying games on the water - musical sailing statues and smugglers and customs! Then in for a picnic tea before launching for an evening of arena style races. The wind was perfect, the sun came out, the sailors were launched (avoiding the islands that are just starting to appear), everyone arrived on the race course……then thunder stopped play.

We were all super impressed with the organisation and speed the coaches and sailors got everyone ashore and safely inside. Excellent team work!

The fab Assistant Instructors took over at this point and played games with the sailors, including a very loud and competitive Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament!

But I think everyone would agree that the highlight of the day was the water fight (once the storm had safely passed). Any rules that the instructors tried to enforce (1. Don’t shoot the instructors) went very quickly out the window, resulting in Rhys P (‘Little Rhys’) having to change into PJs to drive home! I also have it on good authority that Rhys R (‘Big Rhys’) is already looking to upgrade his super soaker for next year!

Thank you all for joining us for our first Fun Day. We already have next years on the calendar.

have travelled to Bala this weekend for the RYA Cymru Wales Onboard Championships.

Day one began with no wind so a quick dip was had, followed by a jumbo SUP race!

The wind has now arrived and everyone is on the water. Good luck team! ⛵️

Look at our brilliant junior sailors battling the elements!

For last nights Junior Sailing Club the focus was on strong wind sailing and speed control.

Great job sailors! ⛵️

And as soon as sailing was over, the packing up of boats began to make the trip to the Onboard Festival in Bala this weekend. Good luck team!

Can you spot the Llandegfedd Sailing Club jumper onboard Challenger 4?

One of our fab instructors Liam, has set sail with the Tall Ships Youth Trust aboard Challenger 4. He will be sailing around the Channel Islands for a week, learning new sailing skills, carrying out ecology projects as well as completing his DofE Gold residential.

They have already sailed to Cowes and Alderney, next stops are Jersey and Guernesey.

We love hearing about the amazing things our sailors are doing. Good luck Liam! Enjoy! ⛵️

RYA Stage 3 and RYA Start Racing courses have started today for our junior sailors.

Our sailors are always working towards their next qualification when they sail with us on Thursday evenings (as well as getting some race training in). Attending these courses is a great way to do some more intensive learning and also enables us to get more of the theory ticked off which we don’t have as much time for on our club nights.

Good luck sailors!
