With a lot of our regulars away, we really need your help if this week’s junior parkrun is to go ahead safely, and if our youngsters are to get a time and position to recognise their efforts.

Volunteer Shout Out

If our Junior parkrun is to go ahead on Sunday we will need a few more volunteers to ensure the safety of the children.

If you can help us, please post below. All that is required is to wear a Hi Viz and marshall at a particular spot to make sure the children go in the correct direction. A bit of cheering- on is also helpful!!

We look forward to hearing from you.

Run report for 23rd August

We had 38 children doing parkrun this morning - what a beautiful morning it was!

There were 6 first timers: Harrison, Shanae, Gerrald, Beau B, Beau T and Evie. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and will return again next week.

Well done to all children on completing the course. PB's were achieved by: Theo, Oscar, Caitlin, Leah, Freya, Joel, Fern and Toby. A great effort all round!

Junior parkrun could not happen without our band of volunteers. Many thanks to the following for turning up and donning a Hi Viz jacket: Deb Clarke, The James family- Karen, Huw, Freya and Ieuan, Alivia Jones, Pete Carnegie, Sue and Greg Graham, Dale Howells, Sian Lance, Laura Mills, Joy Perkins, Claire and Jodi Westmacott, Mary Murray and our junior volunteers, Oscar, Theo and Violet.

Hope you all had a great time this morning. A couple of things:

1) A child's jacket was left behind at the finish line. It it's now at the Leisure Centre awaiting collection!

2) The bar code for the runner who came in at position 12 wouldn't scan. Unfortunately we didn't get the child's parkrun number - if it was your child, can you post the parkrun number from their barcode here and I will update the results. Many apologies!

Pontypool Junior Parkrun Report:
Sunday 16th August:
Event #461

A huge well done to everyone who joined us at Pontypool Junior Parkrun this morning.
The sun was shining but thankfully, the temperature was a little cooler, making it perfect conditions for completing a parkrun! 😊
We welcomed 45 fantastic finishers, including 8 first timers to Pontypool; Oscar M, Ezra, Leah, Freya, Fern, Darcy, Gweneira, and Rex.

We also celebrated 13 new PBs for Oscar M, Noah, Max, William, Elijah, Nia, Harry, Charlie M, James, Oscar H, Sophia, Luca, and Isabella.
Da iawn pawb - well done everyone! 🥳

Oscar H and Freya were also presented with their 10 milestone certificate and wristband. What a wonderful achievement! 🏆

Thank you to our visitors from Swindon and Dartford, Kent for choosing to join us for a spot of Parkrun tourism today! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
It was great to welcome you and share in your Junior Parkrun experience. Congratulations to Elijah and Oscar M for achieving new PBs here this morning.👍
As well as smashing his own PB, Oscar M also broke our course record with an incredible time of 6 minutes and 27 seconds! What an achievement!! 👏👏
We hope you enjoyed celebrating your success along with all our regular and new runners at Pontypool, who all did brilliantly today.😃

A special shout out goes to one of our regular runners, Bertie, who despite having his arm in a sling, still volunteered as our token sorter today - thank you Bertie, you're a star! ⭐

Once again our volunteers were enthusiastically cheering everyone on and making sure that you all had a safe and fun time out on the course.
Thank you for giving up your time everyone! 😃 Remember, if you'd like to join us as a 'high vis hero', please let us know, we'll provide any necessary training and we're a friendly bunch!

As always, we hope you enjoyed your parkrun experience with us today and we look forward to seeing you all again next week. Same time, same place!
Have a great week Parkrunners!
