🗣️ First Team Match Report

Fairfield United 3–1 Pontnewydd United FC

Two newly promoted sides went head-to-head for the first time this season, after Pontnewydd beat us twice last season. We definitely felt we had a point to prove and with a fantastic crowd at the Ravine Ground, we did just that.

With a few changes due to injuries and squad rotation, both sides came out ready for the battle. Pontnewydd took the lead from a free kick on the halfway line, with the ball floated into the box and somehow finding its way over everyone and into the net.

That was the wake-up call we needed. The boys lifted it a gear or two, working harder, chasing everything down and getting to every ball first.

A brilliant through ball from Taylor Price found Declan Heaven who refused to give up on it and managed to roll it back to Taylor. He made no mistake, smashing home from outside the box 🔵

Our tails were up and the pressure continued. Another quality free kick from Declan Heaven was whipped into the box and Taylor Price rose highest to head home his second of the night. 2–1 at half-time.

We knew the next goal would be massive, and the boys continued to fight for every scrap. Owen Richards was winning the ball back constantly before putting Declan Heaven through, who calmly finished to make it 3–1.

From there, we managed the game brilliantly and saw it out.

🗣️ First Team Match Report

Fairfield United 2–0 Albion Rovers

Another game at the Ravine and another fantastic result for Fairfield United! 🔵⚽

Albion Rovers Fc Newport are a very well-drilled side and played some excellent football at times in the first half. We kept our shape brilliantly, making it extremely difficult for them to break us down. Gareth Williams was commanding in goal, coming for everything in the air and sweeping behind the back four perfectly.

We went into half-time 0–0, happy with our performance but knowing that if we could find the first goal, we could go on and win the game.

That goal came when Kian Cook struck a ball into the box which somehow lobbed over the Albion keeper to make it 1–0! From there, we took a stranglehold of the game and continued to apply pressure.

We then won a free kick just outside the box. Taylor Price delivered and Captain powered home to make it 2–0! 💥

A superb, well-organised performance against a very good Albion Rovers side.

Special mentions to Owen Richards and who drove the team from the first whistle right through to the end👏

Gareth didn’t have to make many saves, but he was commanding throughout and made the back four’s job so much easier.
