First time back fishing properly since last October I decided to take the time off due to not really enjoying fishing anymore the Celtic cup absolutely cooked me and it put me off fishing altogether so I’ve just been taxi service for Travis, today I decided to have a go myself again and thoroughly enjoyed it I’ve caught steady all day and ended up with 56lb odd off of skimmers and other bits up at dolygaer and was nice to be able to fish alongside Travis for once so hopefully I will start to get on the bank a lot more now.

Well had a few days without a phone after the Celtic cup due to it getting absolutely soaked 🤦‍♂️ great trip up to Scotland to fish a fantastic venue with team wales float fishing. First two days of practice were a bit of hit and miss I don’t think I got to grips with the venue quick enough and it was a steep learning curve. First day of the cup I’ve drawn peg 28 which was D4 I’ve caught 50 fish on the slider and couldn’t get a bite on the pole I do wonder now on reflection if I had stayed permanently on the slider and not wasted time even fishing the pole would I have been second of even contended for first in the section but I did get third in section. 2nd day well I had a right lesson I’ve got absolutely destroyed from both sides I got something massively wrong tactically and it showed in the results I fished to a plan that just didn’t work and finished the day wondering if I can even fish 🤦‍♂️ it was very frustrating to not be able to sus out what was going on has left me very deflated. Head up now I’ve got take Travis Couch Angling page to the Daiwa global communities match on the Shropshire union this weekend where he will be captaining one of 4 Welsh junior teams so fingers crossed he does better than myself.

No match for me today I’ve had a few hours fishing the slider in horrific conditions in preparation for the Celtic cup this week in Scotland. Conditions were as Scottish as I could get today howling wind and rain 🤦‍♂️ managed to have a few fish though and it gave me the opportunity to adjust all my catapult elastics for different ranges. Looking forward to fishing the Celtic cup now even though bloodworm and joker is not allowed due to supply issues.

Fished a very wet match at pontsticill reservoir today setup up two feeder rods and a 7m whip, fished 42m on the rods caught a couple of skimmers lost about 10 to pike so gave up on the feeder fishing rubbish and fished the whip caught about 150 perch and 1 roach on the whip to weigh in 9lb2oz went through 2kg of groundbait and run out with an hour to go so my catch rate dropped massively 🤦‍♂️ came 3rd overall so ended up with some cash which was a bonus after being waterboarded all day by torrential rain🤦‍♂️. Didn’t take any more photos phone was too wet.

Well entertaining last two days flew home from Gran Canaria yesterday morning then drove straight up to fish the div 2 national on the aire and Calder for let’s fish red team. I ended up being drawn peg 60 on b section which was an end peg 🙌, the excitement of an end peg was short lived once I started fishing it was rock hard I’ve fished a few different lines but my best was 13m where I have caught most of my fish on bronze pinkies, had a few fish short also on the pinkie over groundbait ended up with 2kg420g for 5th in section if I had one bonus fish it would have made a massive difference but there just wasn’t any there unfortunately.

Today I’ve been up on dolygaer reservoir fishing the WFCA feeder championship I have drawn peg 27 on the roadside everyone said it was a good area but not today. I’ve had Phil Thomas to my right and John Morgan and John Harvey to my left. I’ve plumbed about and it was all the same depth out to 70m so I have had 3 lines 1 20m 1 35m and 1 65m. I haven’t caught anything on the short lines but I’ve caught nearly all day on the long line on double pinky and a window feeder in a count of 2 seconds 🤦‍♂️. I have used 1kg lake fine 1/2kg bream 3000 1/2kg canal noir and 250ml epiceine. I have ended up with 10lb 3oz John Harvey has beaten me with 10lb 12oz on the end peg in our 4 peg bit but further down the bank they have had much bigger weights so we didn’t stand a chance in the shallows.

Today was my second match of the year and I did a bit of feeder flinging (not fished the feeder in two years in a match) fished two lines on the tip one 35m (rubbish) one 50m which was good also fished 7m whip and caught a few roach and perch. Had mostly skimmer on the tip fishing sensas lake black and bream 50/50 caught all fish on the worm. On the whip line I fed gros gardons and canal noire 50/50 and loose fed caster and pinkie. Ended up with 10lb 4oz which has put me 4th on the day was beaten by stumpy on my right for 3rd by 1oz and Phil Thomas won the match to my left with 11lb2oz it was all very close. Thanks Tony Birt for running a great match will definitely be back for the next one.

WFCA canal champs today drew peg 2 was rock hard fishing fished double squatt over groundbait most of the day due to it being rock hard I’ve managed to put 1lb 15oz in the net and beating the end peg by 2oz and taking second in section but as normal Paul waddington with his fabrication of weights has ended up putting 2lb10oz in the net to take the section well done all those who fished and well done to the boys running it cracking setup and good grub at the end 👏👏

Not been fishing since Christmas managed to get out today for a few hours to have a practice on the whip fished 7m with a 4g tubertini pencil float which held nicely in less than favourable conditions. Had a lovely few hours catching perch skimmers roach tench and crucians ended up with about 10lb in the net and very happy with that having never seen the venue before in my life.
