Here are the other 11 habits I’d steal:

6. They don’t explain every decision.
They’ve learned that needing everyone to agree with you is exhausting.

7. They can sit with discomfort without immediately trying to fix it.
A difficult feeling doesn’t always require an immediate response.

8. They protect their attention.
Not every message deserves an instant reply, and not every opinion deserves space in your head.

9. They ask for what they want without rehearsing an apology first.
They’ve stopped treating their needs like an inconvenience.

10. They don’t make permanent decisions from temporary emotions.
They give themselves enough space to see what they actually think.

11. They know when something has run its course.
Outgrowing something doesn’t mean you failed at it.

12. They don’t chase clarity from people who keep creating confusion.
Sometimes the pattern is the answer.

13. They let themselves be misunderstood.
Being understood by everyone isn’t a requirement for living honestly.

14. They keep promises to themselves.
That private evidence builds a kind of confidence that validation can’t give you.

15. They don’t wait until they feel ready.
They’ve learned that confidence often arrives after you move.

16. They know that peace is something worth protecting.
And sometimes that means making a decision that other people won’t understand.

The older I get, the more I realise that being unbothered isn’t a personality trait. It’s something you build through the way you respond to yourself.

Self doubt doesn’t disappear because you tell yourself to be more confident.

Your brain believes what you repeatedly show it, and your nervous system remembers the patterns you practise most often.

Here are five more ways to build mental fitness:

4. Catch yourself looking for evidence that you’re not enough, then deliberately look for evidence that proves you’ve handled hard things before.
5. Borrow confidence from your past. Think of a challenge you once believed you couldn’t handle and remember how you got through it.
6. Stop treating every uncomfortable feeling like a warning. Sometimes it’s simply a sign that you’re growing.
7. Spend less time replaying conversations in your head and more time taking one small action. Confidence grows from evidence, not overthinking.
8. Ask yourself, “What would the woman I’m becoming do next?” Then do that, even if it feels small.

Mental fitness isn’t about never doubting yourself.

It’s about knowing how to come back to yourself before self doubt takes over.

There was a Harvard study that found something I wish every ambitious woman knew.

Your motivation isn’t only shaped by the goal you’re chasing.

It’s also shaped by where you choose to focus your attention.

So many women spend their lives looking at the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

They’ve built the career, they’re doing the work, they’re showing up every day, and somehow it still feels like they’re falling behind.

The problem is that your brain keeps seeing unfinished work instead of recognising the progress you’ve already made.

When you stop and look back at how far you’ve come, your brain gets evidence that your effort is leading somewhere, and that’s what makes it easier to keep going.

I do this with the women I coach all the time.

Before you finish today, write down one way you’ve grown over the last year that your old self would be proud of.

You might be surprised by how much you’ve forgotten.

And if you’ve achieved so much on paper but still don’t feel it, that’s exactly what we work through inside my Inner Circle.

Sometimes the things you’ve learned to call your personality are actually ways you learned to feel safe.

Overthinking a conversation before it happens, feeling guilty for having a boundary, or struggling to relax when you don’t know what’s coming can all be patterns worth paying attention to.

That doesn’t automatically mean they’re trauma responses, but if you recognise yourself here, it may be worth getting curious about where these patterns came from instead of judging yourself for having them.

4 more behaviours to notice:

5. Automatically saying “sorry” even when you haven’t done anything wrong.
6. Feeling responsible for other people’s moods and immediately trying to fix them.
7. Finding it difficult to ask for help because needing someone feels unsafe or uncomfortable.
8. Staying busy because slowing down leaves you alone with thoughts or feelings you’ve been avoiding.

Most people spend years training their body and almost no time training their mind.

The problem is that your brain influences every decision you make, every setback you face, and how quickly you recover when life gets hard.

Mental fitness isn’t something you’re born with.

It’s something you practise.

My evidence log has completely changed the way I see myself because it reminds my brain of everything I’ve already overcome instead of letting it focus on everything that’s still uncertain.

The other habits are just as simple, but done consistently they completely change how you respond to pressure.

You don’t need another productivity hack.

You need a mind that knows how to work with you instead of against you.

If this was helpful, follow along. Every week I share practical mental fitness tools that actually fit into a busy life.

The numbers don't lie. 😌

Women in healthcare are burning out at a rate that should alarm all of us. And the problem isn't that they're weak.

It's that the system was never built with their nervous system in mind.

High responsibility.
Emotional labour.
Zero real recovery.

Burnout in this space isn't a personal failure. It's a pattern that needs to be interrupted.

💬 Comment LENS if you're ready to learn how to regulate and recover without quitting everything you've worked for.

Your brain doesn’t actually care what’s true.

It cares what it repeatedly hears.

If your mind keeps hearing:

“I’m not ready.”
“I’m not capable.”
“I’m behind.”

Your brain starts behaving as if those things are facts.

But the opposite is also true.

When your mind hears:

“I can figure this out.”
“I can handle pressure.”
“I will learn this.”

Your brain starts searching for proof of that too.

That’s how belief becomes behaviour.

And behaviour becomes results.

This is why mental fitness matters.

💬 Comment LENS if you want to learn how to train your brain differently.
