🏏 That’s the square tucked away for another season! 🌱

The end-of-season renovations are well underway as we put the square to bed ahead of the winter.

A huge thank you to Mark Binns for all his efforts across the 2026 season and Josh at Bothams Prestige Sports Turf Contractors during the renovation process. The time, effort and attention to detail that goes into keeping our square in top condition is hugely appreciated. 👏

After another busy season across all our teams, it’s now time to let the ground recover and get ready for another big year in 2027.

👋 Goodbye for now Jordan Bowers 👋

Today, we say goodbye to our first overseas player Jordan Bowers who is flying back home to South Africa.

Jordan has been a wonderful addition to the club in 2026 and we couldn’t be happier with how he has fit in at the club and contributed towards a cup win/top half finish in division 1.

A big thank you to Rob Braithwaite for sponsoring Jordan, he has been an amazing representative of you and we appreciate the support.

They say never fall in love with an overseas. Well, we have.

👇 Local cricket legend Steve Secker is to retire on Sunday 👇

After an illustrious local cricketing career, quite comfortably being one of the best cricketers the local area has produced over the past 40 years, Steve will play one final game for his beloved South Kirkby CCC on Sunday.

Steve also had a spell at Frickley, including a period as first team captain where he lifted the Dyson-Skidmore trophy in 2009.

If you can make it, we’d encourage everyone to get behind Steve in his final game Sunday and head down to neighbours South Kirkby to give him the finale he deserves.

On Sunday, one of our greatest ever players will be making his final appearance for the club.
If you have played alongside or against Steve over the years, we are welcoming everyone down to give him his final ‘send off’. He will receive a guard of honour as he leaves the field for the final time.

🚨Ladies Team - League Champions!🚨

Not the way the girls would have liked to have finished the season off, with the ground being sodden and an abandoned fixture, but on their second season the ladies team are league champions and thus promoted!

Congratulations to both head of ladies cricket for the season, Abbie Hall and Owen Mitchell. Also to both skippers who have contributed so much on and off the field, Chloe Harrison and Tiff Lyons.

What a fantastic day at Darfield Cricket Club! A huge thank you to everyone at Darfield CC for welcoming us to their ground and providing such fantastic hospitality.

The support for the players was absolutely unbelievable. From the first ball to the final celebrations, the turnout and noise from our supporters was something special. 👏

We’ve come such a long way as a club, and to be able to reward everyone who has played their part with a cup final victory makes this one even more special. 🏆

A day that will live long in the memory. ❤️💙

Here is how the 1st team lines up for today’s Mick Savage Trophy Final.

Skipper Josh Diggles has selected a strong side to take on Whitley Hall Cricket Club 2’s at Darfield in what is the 3rd league cup final in 4 years for the club.

Thank you to today’s match sponsor the 1988 Bar and Kitchen at Hemsworth Water Park, alongside our long term partners Ernest Cooper, and Trade Price Flooring.

Stumps are pitched at 12:30 for those coming to spectate. Let’s get a big following over there and cheer the lads on home.
