This week we focused on mawashi-geri (roundhouse kick), working on both technique and power.
Using the Kick paddles for focusing on control, accuracy, speed and good technique.
Then the thicker Kick pads for putting more power into the technique and getting used to striking with commitment.
A great session developing the ability to kick with control when needed, and power when required.
Well done all. ๐ฅ

Back to Training!
September is here, and itโs great to see so many of our students back training properly after the summer holidays.
Although we continued to hold regular training sessions throughout the summer, September marks the return to normal routines for many of our students, and the dojo is already feeling busy again ๐

It's been just over a year since we said our final goodbye to Sensei Les Clarke.
His dedication to Shotokan Karate, his commitment to his students, and the positive impact he had on so many lives continue to be remembered.
Our thoughts remain with his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and training alongside him throughout the years.
His legacy lives on through the many karateka he inspired.
Never forgotten.

A great day of training and grading today at Plymouth Shotokan Karate Centre.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, with members attending from Looe SKC, Blisland JKA Karate, Heian Karate Club Budleigh, and of course our own members of Plymouth SKC. Also, a very special thank you to the dayโs examiner, Sensei Trevor Byrne of JKA Weston-super-Mare Shotokan Karate Centre for his excellent instruction, guidance, and support throughout the day.
We were also honoured to have Sensei Trevor present Danni with her official Shodan certificate from JKA HQ โ a proud and well-deserved moment.
Congratulations to everyone who graded today on your successful passes. Your hard work and effort showed throughout the day, along with valuable guidance from Sensei Trevor on areas for continued improvement and development.
Special congratulations to Plymouth SKC members Isla, Matthew, and Bradley on their successful gradings. Well done all.
This year also marks the clubโs 60th Anniversary โ an incredible achievement and milestone for Plymouth SKC. While this is a year of celebration, it also brings sadness, as Sensei Les Clarke sadly passed away last year and was not here to celebrate it with us. Today, we proudly displayed two large prints front and centre, watching over the dojo throughout the event in his memory.
