This week was our second league fixture against a Devon Athletic side whose first game of the season was abandoned early on.
We knew we were in for a battle with lots of players missing 😫
Devon Athletic 4 – 1 CMOB
The Gaffa took his place on the sidelines this week as he continued to serve his suspension.
He once again had to delve deep into the contact list to ensure we had enough players for the fixture.
Curtis ‘Curky’ Wood made his return for the club, Lewis Clarke, Lewis Treleaven and Carlton Farnham made their debuts, and Sean Esson could only make the second half, taking his place on the bench.
GK Steve Wills made his first appearance of the season — as a target man up top 🧤
The game started very scrappy for both sides. The ever‑present Jennycliff winds were wreaking havoc as usual, and the pitch was full of bobbles to contend with 🌬️🌬️
Devon Athletic began full of energy, but not much was breaking through our defence.
CMOB eventually started to play some football in difficult conditions and caused the opposition problems.
Steve Wills showed some trickery as he flip‑flapped between two men, but the passage of play ended with the ball drifting wide of the goal.
Lewis Clarke got the ball out of his feet from distance and let fly with an effort that sailed just wide of the post.
Lewis Kittle, helping out at LB, was having a great game, he was first to every ball and aggressive in his defending 👏
We took the lead after working the ball well from left to right. Clarke was involved again, turning on the edge of the box before sliding a neat pass into Lee Britchford.
After supplying Mousehole with a new ball last week, Britchford ensured this effort stayed on the floor and expertly converted into the side of the net ⚽️🥅
Steve Wills then, of course, head‑locked one of the Devon players …. because he’s hard and simply can’t help himself 👀💪🏻
It looked like we were going to see out the first half in the lead, but we conceded with the last kick of the half.
A Devon free kick was sent into our box, the ball wasn’t headed away, and the striker finished with ease 😫
The second half began scrappy again, with both teams struggling to play any football.
Carlton Farnham and Sean Esson entered the field hoping to turn the game in our favour.
Carlton went straight into the action and was chopped down when through on goal, but the ref waved play on 🤷🏻♂️
He went close again soon after when his volleyed effort was love‑puffed towards goal … shot power at zero and the keeper gobbled it up easily 👀
Jake Evans had clearly been watching Lee Britchford, sending his free kick straight into the sea 🌊⚽️
Devon were always in the game and looked dangerous on the counter.
They hit us with a sucker punch when Sean Esson was dispossessed, and the winger calmly slotted past Callum Treleaven 😳
Devon Athletic were then awarded a penalty when Jordan Dunn went shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the striker.
The penalty was dispatched well.
CMOB were again their own worst enemy when yet another mistake allowed the winger through on goal, and he finished well to put the game beyond reach.
The full‑time whistle went, and we walked away with nothing after a very disappointing showing.
Man of the Match goes to Lee Britchford, who defended well, pinged some decent corners, and took his goal brilliantly 🥇

It was the first league game of the season, and we went into it with just one pre‑season match under our belt.
We faced a difficult Princetown side who caused us problems last season 🏆
Princetown 0 - 3 CMOB
The Gaffa is currently serving a four‑match ban and was away this weekend anyway, meaning Joe Borockzy would take up the Player‑Manager role.
The first game of the season was a difficult one to attract players for, and we ended up with just one substitute on the day.
Kian Berry struggled to get himself out of bed on time and turned up late as usual 😴💤🛌
The usual suspects also found it difficult to locate the pitch, despite one of the lads helpfully dropping a pin in the group chat 😂
Jack Dixon and Alex Lecointe made their long‑awaited debuts 😬
The first ten minutes were a bit ropey, and it took us a while to get to grips with Princetown’s long balls. Once we settled, we looked much more solid.
Alex Lecointe was forced off after 20 minutes following a knock to his knee 🚑
Dicko started well in goal, spraying a delightful ball over the Princetown defence for Kian Berry to run onto. Kian’s effort was saved by the keeper but forced a corner 🧤
Jake Evans’ corner found Joe Chivers, who rose highest and powered a header into the net 👱♂️⚽️🥅
We extended our lead when Joe Chivers supplied Kian Berry, who made no mistake and slotted home.
Dave “Trigger” Wrench was excellent defensively, though a few of his passes went wayward — and Cayleb Needham made sure he knew about it 🤬
Lee Britchford took the opportunity to supply Mousehole FC with a new match ball when his free kick missed the target by miles 👀
We went into half‑time in complete control 👏
The boys started the second half well, playing some good football throughout.
Cayleb Needham put in a great performance across multiple positions and was also lucky enough to wear the captain’s armband on the day🦸♂️
Alex Lecointe returned in the second half, put himself about, and showed real quality on the ball.
Joe Borockzy was up to his old tricks when a square ball across goal bobbled over his foot on the goal line 🥲
He did, however, get himself on the scoresheet late on when Kian Berry played a pass in behind. Joe ran through 1v1 and coolly finished into the corner 🧊
A great start to the season with three points on the board in what could have been a tricky fixture.
Plenty of positives, but Man of the Match goes to Cayleb Needham, who excelled in CAM, CM, and later CB.
Gobby as ever, but absolutely our standout player 🥇

Took us just the 16 years to get our hands on silverware once again 🩷🩵🏆 🕰️

It was a big day for the club as we faced a very young and energetic Queen & Con 2nds team in the Cup Final at Coach Road 🏆
CMOB 2 - 2 Q&C 2nds
(Penalties 11 - 10)
Q&C were very keen on the day, arriving by coach at the ground early with their winners banner and champagne 🚎 👀
CMOB would travel up separately by car and look to get their heads into the big game.
Jordan Dunn’s dad was ecstatic to see some of supporters for once with a good turn out from our friends and family 🩷🩵
Despite the Gaffa’s message to not be late, this is Sunday league, so of course the usual offenders did the exact opposite with Sean Esson, Callum Treleaven & Kian Berry strolling in just in time for the warm up 🕰️
After our warm up on the day, pure nostalgia would follow with the OG Gaffa, Mark Lethbridge and Phil ‘Pepper Head’ James attending 🧑🦲
The OG Gaffa’s would take up their space as part of the management team and deliver an unreal team talk before the game 😮💨
I think the lads were transported back in time in this moment and instantly up for the fight 🤛
Lee Dare and Jake Evans would return from troublesome injuries, Lewis Kittle would be deployed at fullback and Sam Russell would bolster our midfield area 💪🏻
Dave Smith would unfortunately rule himself out of the game with a bad back, he would though take up his role as manager in the dugout 👴🏻
The game itself would start at pace with Q&C showing their attacking intentions early.
They would take a hold of the game early and dictate really well 😳
The Q&C winger was very tricky, he’d beat Lee Dare, get a ball into our box but the striker would fire the ball just wide.
CMOB would do a fair bit of running in the opening exchanges but waste the ball on most occasions 😫
Kian Berry was a real bright spark for us however with plenty of snakey runs at the Q&C defence 🐍
It was the Q&C winger who would make his mark on the game first when he went down in the box, the referee would initially book him for diving but the Lino would end up overruling KO him and a penalty was awarded 🟨 ❌
The striker would step up, make no mistake and convert from the spot.
The attacks from Q&C would keep on coming but CMOB would remain in the game and resilient as ever.
At one point the Q&C striker had got in behind the CMOB defence, he was sprinting towards goal, Sean Esson would do what he does best though, he’d get himself back in and make a fantastic last ditch tackle 👏
The HT whistle would blow at 0-1 with CMOB struggling to make an impact on the game in all honesty.
The Gaffa would make some changes at the break, bringing Cayleb Needham on up front and Fraser Ferris on for the injured Lee Dare 🚑
In the second half CMOB would start really well and really start to impose themselves on the game now.
We were rewarded for our efforts shortly after HT when we were awarded a penalty ourselves, this time following a high foot on the Gaffa.
Jake Evans would of course calmly slot the ball home and draw us level in the game 😬
Kian Berry would continue to be an absolute menace for us and terrorise the Q&C defence 🔥
Q&C were now in far less control but were still very much dangerous in attack.
The Q&C striker would be busy but would waste a number of chances in and around the box.
Jake Evans was the next player to depart the game with another injury and was replaced by Nick Baldwin 🚑
Nick would jump straight into the action with his constant running but would oddly find himself as a target for the rowdy Q&C supporters in the stands 🤔
Shouts would ring out from the back row of the stands, calling out our bald players and saying that our No 12 is s*it 😂
Soon after Q&C would regain the lead when their CM found himself on the right hand side, he would ping a delightful cross into the box and the Q&C striker would divert the ball into our net 🥅
The Devon Cup trophy was almost in Q&C’s hands moments later again when their player let go of an unbelievable strike from distance.
Luckily for us the ball would hit the crossbar, bounce agonisingly close to the line and back out again 🤯
Cayleb Needham was left flabbergasted when Kian Berry’s driving run didn’t end with him slotting him in on goal.
Nick Baldwin would turn into Messi for a second, prance around three Q&C players before tripping over his own laces 😂
With the clock ticking CMOB would win themselves a series of corners at the death.
The first would be expertly defended by Q&C, clearing a goal bound effort off the line.
The following corner however would be lofted into the box again by the ever dependable Jack Lethbridge, the ball would go close to the keeper, Trigger would jump for the ball but miss, the keeper would then end up spilling it and the Gaffa would be on hand to bundle the ball in off the defender 🙏🏻👀👏
With minutes to play the boys would see the game into a dreaded penalty shootout 😕
What would follow would blow the minds of everyone at the ground.
There were some brilliant penalties on display with Lee Britchford’s being the pick of the bunch 😍 🗑️
The Gaffa would of course involve himself in the drama and end up getting sent off for dedicating his pen to an abusive Q&C fan 😫🍓
Callum Treleaven would be the hero on the day, fly across his goal to push the ball away with both hands and win us the Devon Cup against the odds🏆🎉
This was a momentous achievement for CMOB with this being only our second season back together.
We had not won a trophy in 16 years and it was such a good day for all involved.
MoM goes to Kian Berry who was an ever present threat on the day and unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself 🥇

It was the final league game of the season for us and we faced a resilient Princetown side at Legends Park.
Princetown 1 - 4 CMOB
Preparation wasn’t great for this fixture with a large amount of the lads turning up very late to the game ⏰
Lee Dare was running things with the Gaffa away for the weekend and still serving his suspension 🍓
Lee would take no rubbish from the players and bench some of the late offenders 😂
Matt Galloway would be between the sticks for the second week running 🧤
Kian Berry & Sam Russell would return to the squad in the hope of securing the 3 points for us.
Joe Borockzy was in fine form and would run the Princetown defence ragged.
Joe Borockzy would take away a brace on the day and be unlucky not to take away the MoM award.
Kian Berry would grab yet another goal for himself this season and again cause the full back all sorts of problems 🔥
The goal of the day though came from Jordan Dunn who unleashed an absolute rocket into the top bins to secure the game for us 🚀 🗑️
The MoM award also goes to Jordan Dunn who was unbelievable on the day, completely solid in defence and brilliant going forward 🥇

With the games now running out fast, CMOB were desperate to finally find some form going into our game Vs Q&C 2nds 🙏🏻
It was our last Home game of the season and Yealmpton was looking fantastic 🏡
CMOB 2 - 6 Princetown
We would welcome Matt Galloway into the squad to help us out in the goalkeeping department.
Steve Wills would last minute turn up and take up a place on the bench as an outfield player 🧤👀
Jordan Dunn would also make him return despite struggling with multiple injuries 🚑
Finally Dave Smith would be deployed at CB with Trigger missing & the Gaffa suspended 🍓
CMOB would start well in this game and would take the lead early on through Jack Lethbridge.
The ball would be squared to Jack on the edge of the box, Jack would compose himself before sending a worm burner right into the corner of the net 🪱 🔥
Princetown however would react brilliantly and their CM would score a great goal from distance.
Princetown would continue to turn the screw and take the lead in the game.
CMOB would respond again when Jake Evans went past his man and was fouled in the box.
Jake would step up to take the penalty himself and slot it home brilliantly 👏
Unfortunately for us we could not get a hold of the game and Princetown would end up walking away with it on the day 😫
To make matters worse, Jake Evans would pull up with a hamstring strain with 10 minutes left on the clock ⏰ 🚑
Despite the injury Jake was the main man for us on the day, he was dangerous at all times and takes home the MoM award 🥇

CMOB were involved in an evening fixture against a forever tricky South Brent outfit.
South Brent would of course be looking for revenge after we knocked them out of the Sunday Supplementary Cup at the Semi Final stage🏆
South Brent 2 - 1 CMOB
Despite having a Cup Final in the not so distant future, CMOB were struggling to get a squad together for our remaining fixtures 😫
Liam Hooks would be drafted in to play as an outfield player and Sam Russell would play his 4th game in 5 days 🏃🏻🙏🏻
Ollie Pound would also make himself available and help us out massively.
The pitch was very bobbly and dry but both teams would do their best to try and play football.
South Brent would make the breakthrough first and take the lead in the game.
We would respond though an expertly converted Jack Lethbridge free kick 🚀
South Brent would take the lead yet again in the game when their player curled a brilliant effort in after a snakey run 🐍
We would throw everything at South Brent to try and rescue something from the game.
The Gaffa would be fouled in the penalty box late in the game 👀👀👀 The referee pointed to the spot but then seemed to forget about it 5 minutes later and give us a free kick instead 😂
Shortly after the whistle would blow and we would continue our poor league form with yet another loss.
MoM goes to the goal scorer who never gave up and did his best to drag us back into the game with a great free kick👏

CMOB were fresh from a good result vs Seymour but knew they would be met with a tough game on Friday night at DHS.
Tamar View 2nds 9 - 0 CMOB
CMOB would do ok in the opening exchanges of the game but wouldn’t manage to create anything worthwhile.
For pretty much the whole game the boys in claret & blue would really struggle to get any sort of opportunity on goal, we were also very poor on the ball and defensively throughout 🩷🩵😫
Tamar seconds however were straight out the of the blocks on the night and you could tell they were hungry for victory.
There was some great football on display from them and some fantastic goals on show in this game 👏
We were never in it and the 3 points went deservingly to Tamar 2nds.
Congratulations to Tamar who went unbeaten all season and are Champions of Sunday Division 2 🔥
Tamar also took some great photos and was kind enough to get some of the lads best angles 😂 📷
Not a great showing from us but Callum Treleaven was in fine form despite the amount of goals he had to pick out of his net 🥅
It could of been much much more if it wasn’t for him and his heroics 🧤🥇
