However, today is a new day and we welcome South Shields to Welfare Park for a winner takes all game in the promotion battle

With the season nearly at an end and our adult sides being reasonably successful and stable we’re now looking to rebuild the roots of the club

We’re looking at restarting our junior teams from under 9 to under 18, if you know of any children who may be interested then please encourage them to comment here or message the page.

Based on interest we will make the decision in the coming weeks of what teams we will enter into the league

We’ve got a massive game tomorrow at Welfare Park against league leaders Washington.

However on Sunday we go again in the first semi final of finals day at Peterlee against Coundon at 10am. Should we win the final will be around 4pm, could be a long weekend on the pints for the barmy army.

Bars open from 1pm tomorrow, let’s get down to both days and support the lads

Captain Akers shocked the world by announcing his team for the weekend on a Tuesday instead of a Friday night

We play league leaders Washington at home in a first vs second clash which will hopefully be a good game of amateur cricket

Appleby, Tarn, Archer and Roberts are all unavailable for the fixture

Saturday took the lads to the outback to take on Beamish on the smallest ground in the league

Captain Akers lost the toss and we once again bowled first. All five our bowlers bowled excellently with a few wides thrown in to restrict Beamish to 86 all out off 32 overs. Russell finding his mojo taking 4 wickets with 3 each for Rickaby and Wilson

In the chase we lost 3 wickets in an over to have us nervous at 29/3 however 54 from Price and a composed 12 from Wilson took us to the brink of victory with Richardson sweeping a four to take us over the line.

Another 22 points in the bag; we’re now level on points in second in the league with Coundon as we keep pushing for promotion

Next up is a massive game on Saturday again top of the league Washington followed by a cup finals day at our friends Peterlee Cricket Club on Sunday.

The curtain came down on the midweek 11s season on Thursday night with an emphatic win over Bill Quay at Welfare Park

Batting first the order was picked out of the hat, the evergreen Michael Armstrong opening up and making 40 off 28 balls to set the wheels in motion, ably supported by Dylan continuing his good form with 28 and the legend Michael Fox with his highest score to date of 23

In the bowling half overs were shared around and we never looked in any danger of losing the game

A good solid season for the Bullies, finishing 3rd in the league under Brigga but most importantly giving up and coming players like Russell, Wilson and Smith a platform to play and develop and long may it continue.

Evan Atherton finished the season with 219 runs putting him 3rd in the league standings while Dylan Richardson and Archie Wilson both finished with 17 wickets each meaning they tied 3rd in the league standings

A good solid season, plenty of laughs and pints along the way and we go again in 2027.
