The damper on the Ergs isn’t a difficulty setting 👀
Putting it straight up to 10 doesn’t automatically mean a better or harder workout.
The damper simply changes how the stroke feels — the actual intensity comes from how much power YOU produce.
For most people, somewhere between 3–6 is a great place to start.
The goal? Find a setting where you can:
💪 Produce good power
🚣 Maintain solid technique
⏱️ Hold a consistent pace
Don’t make it heavier just for the sake of making it heavier.
Train smarter, not just harder.

If you were starting your fitness journey today, here’s what we’d want you to know 👇
You don’t need the perfect programme.
You don’t need to train 6 days a week.
And you definitely don’t need to change your entire life overnight.
You need to:
✅ Learn the basics properly
✅ Have some structure to your training
✅ Focus on what YOU want to achieve
✅ Build habits you can actually maintain
✅ Stop comparing your progress to everyone else’s
The biggest mistake we see beginners make is trying to do too much, too soon.
Training should fit around your life — not take it over.
Start where you are. Build gradually. Stay consistent.
And when you’re not sure what to do next?
That’s where good coaching makes all the difference 💪

Trying to balance running AND strength training? 🏃♀️🏋️♂️
You don’t have to choose between getting stronger and getting fitter — but you do need to be smart about how you combine the two.
The biggest mistake? Trying to do too much, too soon.
Manage your workload. Fuel properly. Prioritise recovery. Stay consistent. And have a plan that makes your running and strength work together, not against each other.
Get those basics right and you can absolutely improve both. 💪

You train more than just the muscles you can see 👀
When we think about a squat, we usually think quads, glutes, hamstrings and core.
But there’s a lot more going on.
Your diaphragm and pelvic floor play an important role in creating the pressure, support and stability you need to move well and get stronger 💪
And things like pregnancy, perimenopause, previous injuries, stress and breathing habits can all influence how your body moves.
That’s why good coaching isn’t just about making sure you complete the exercise.
It’s about understanding the person doing it and adapting where needed.
Train the person. Not just the movement.
That’s what coaching should be 🙌
The hardest part isn’t your first workout… it’s walking through the door.
Most people imagine they’ll be shouted at, pushed too hard or made to feel embarrassed.
The reality?
✅ We coach you through everything.
✅ We work at your level.
✅ We make sure you leave feeling confident.
That’s why so many of our members are people who once said, “I was too nervous to join.”

Most gyms focus on the 2-4 hours you spend training each week.
We focus on the other 164-166 hours.
Because that’s where your results are really decided.
The workouts matter. But so do your sleep, nutrition, daily habits, stress, recovery and the choices you make when nobody is watching.
At Eyre Athletic, our goal isn’t just to get you through another workout.
It’s to educate you, support you and give you the tools to achieve results that last long after you’ve left the gym.
We don’t want you to rely on us forever.
We want to help you become someone who knows exactly what they need to do to stay fit, strong and healthy for life.
That’s the difference between simply going to the gym…
…and being coached.
