Campaign update: Bugs, bikes and a return to track action.

The Thurrock Asmatt Limited Hammers campaign has been gathering momentum – on and off the track. 🏁

With work continuing behind the scenes, recent weeks have brought growing media interest, new collaborations and further action in our campaign to return speedway to Thurrock.

We’ve submitted two further substantial objections to the proposed data centre development, continued discussions around our vision for the future of the site, and joined forces with environmental organisations including Buglife - The Invertebrate Conservation Trust and Essex Wildlife Trust

And there’s plenty happening on track too, with the Hammers set to make two appearances in September when we take on Mildenhall Speedway Club and Kent Eagles Speedway Club. Team news for both fixtures to follow soon.

Mick Bratley recently visited Michael Tomalin CEO of City Auction Group and Purplerock Logistics at their Peterborough offices to present a framed picture in recognition of the sponsorship received from the companies for the Speedway challenge match between Mildenhall Fen Tigers and the Peterborough Panthers earlier this year.

Mick said: ‘It’s always a pleasure to meet with Michael, not only to present something to him but to have a general chat with him. The sponsorship by City Auction Group and Purplerock and of course all of our sponsors, is invaluable in aiding us to put a team together to contest one off challenge matches and we are eternally grateful for this ongoing support. It is important for us to do these meetings on occasions, it keeps our club name and spirit alive and acts as a reminder to all that we’re still here and still fighting the cause and that we are not going away anytime soon’.
