What a fantastic weekend for Werrington Cricket Club, with all four sides securing victories! 🎉👏

After both Saturday teams won their games, the Sunday 1st XI and Sunday 2nd XI completed a brilliant 4/4 weekend for the club. 💚🏏

🏆 Sunday 2nd XI – Huge 150-Run Victory

The Sunday 2nd XI produced an outstanding performance, defeating Bounce CC by 150 runs.

A superb Man of the Match innings from M. Yousaf set the platform for a big total, with excellent support from quick-fire contributions by Fakhar Jamal, Gurdeep Kumar and Salahudin. 🔥👏

🏆 Sunday 1st XI – Crucial Victory vs Northampton Saints CC

The Sunday 1st XI secured a hugely important victory against Northampton Saints CC.

Batting first, Werrington found themselves in serious trouble at 84/5 after 30 overs. But what followed was an incredible fightback! 💪

Werrington finished on an impressive 228/6, scoring nearly 150 runs in the final 15 overs.

⭐ Maddy – 64 runs
⭐ Junaid Hussain – 52 not out*

A wonderful, responsible innings from Maddy, combined with Junaid’s unbeaten knock, completely turned the game around.

With the ball, Werrington bowled Northampton Saints CC out for 170, securing a vital victory.

A fantastic Saturday for the club, with both our 1st XI and 2nd XI securing brilliant wins over the league leaders, Sawtry CC and Brampton CC.

Congratulations to Ubaid Ur Rehman (1st XI) and M Asif (2nd XI), who were deservedly named Players of the Match for their outstanding half-centuries.

Well played to everyone involved – a great team effort and an excellent weekend for the club! 👏🏏

Another fantastic win for Werrington CC’s T20 team before next Thursday’s big final! 🏏💪

Peterborough Champs looked set for a massive total after reaching 74/4 in just 8 overs, but what a comeback from our spinners! Khurshid finished with 1/21 from his 4 overs, Usman bowled brilliantly, conceding just 15 runs from 3 overs, and Gurdeep produced a match-winning spell of 2/9 from 2 overs to restrict Peterborough Champs to 140.

The chase wasn’t easy, with Werrington struggling at 59/6. But captain Maddy and our outstanding T20 batsman, Hafiz Ali, showed great composure and determination. Their unbeaten partnership of 41* and 35* guided us to a memorable victory.

A brilliant team performance from everyone. Well done, boys, and all the very best for the final next Thursday! 💙💛🏆

Congratulations to the Saturday 2nd XI and Sunday 2nd XI for their fantastic wins this weekend! 🏏👏

The Saturday 2nd XI posted a massive total of 338/8 in 40 overs. Special congratulations to Qamer Javed for his brilliant 108 off just 78 balls. Saad Ashraf also delivered an outstanding all-round performance, scoring 70 from 56 balls and taking 3 wickets. Laxton Park 2 were bowled out for 191.

The Sunday 2nd XI secured a thrilling victory against a strong Adida CC side, successfully chasing down 154 with 8 wickets down. Another excellent bowling spell from captain M Qaiser saw him take 4 wickets. Sajid Rafiq and Deep Singh both scored impressive half-centuries and also chipped in with 2 wickets each.

Unfortunately, the Sunday 1st XI lost their game against Young Northampton CC by 36 runs, despite a strong bowling performance that saw them bowl the opposition out for just 151 runs.

Werrington CC T20 have reached the final of the Peterborough Midweek League after an incredible 3-wicket win against one of the strongest sides, Shahada CC.

Chasing a competitive 158, Werrington were struggling at 31/5 after just 4 overs, but the team showed amazing character and determination to complete the chase in only 18 overs.

🏏 What an outstanding week for Werrington CC! 🏏

The week ended on a high note with some fantastic performances across all formats.

✅ Sunday 1st XI produced a dominant display against a strong City CC 2nd XI last Sunday, securing a massive 140 run victory. The highlight of the match was an exceptional bowling spell from Ali Butt, who played a key role in the win.

✅ In the Peterborough Midweek T20 League, Werrington CC defeated Peterborough Champs to book their place in the semi-finals. A brilliant all-round performance from M. Toseeq earned him the Man of the Match award, claiming 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs and remaining 20 not out.

✅ Saturday 1st XI overcame Elstow CC 2nd XI, thanks to a match-winning performance from Naveed Ahmed, who won the game single handily and guided the team to victory with his 77 runs and 2 crucial wickets.

✅ The week concluded with another emphatic 140-run victory for the Sunday 1st XI against a strong Orton Park CC side. Outstanding contributions from Fakhar Jamal 46 and 3 wickets M. Toseeq 72 runs and Junaid 67 runs and 2 wickets led the team to a memorable win.
