Weekend result

Unfortunately a loss to Edinburgh South 4s on Saturday. We lost the toss and were asked to bowl, in what was a wet outfield with some light drizzle. We took some good wickets, with notable performance from the younger and better Burns, with Finlay securing a hat-trick to secure the final 3 wickets.

Despite a strong start with the bat, wickets tumbled and only Mehul managed to break 30+ runs with some impressive shots back over the bowler's head.

We enjoyed a very lovely tea inbetween innings with Edinburgh South bringing some of their own treats to contribute to what was a very full table of cakes and sandwiches.

Rainy morning in Peebles, but forecast says its to dry up, ready for the first ball at 1pm.

Last weekend's result and match report:

Last Saturday Peebles County travelled to the Gyle to play Drummond Trinity lV on a calm, hot afternoon. Winning the toss, County headed out to bat with Kevin Bunten (0) and Chris Richardson (93). Richardson made his highest score for Peebles taking advantage of a short , fast scoring pitch. Finlay Burns (5) fell quickly and Craig Entwhistle (4) ended up run out following some mis- communication! At 34-3 skipper Caddick (28) then joined Richardson for a much needed partnership of 117. Debutants Paddy Thomson (16 from 14 balls) and Chris Thomson (1) moved the score along and Niall Burns added his red ink 1 not out. County finished on 176-7 from 40 overs before a very enjoyable tea interval and cricket banter. After a brief huddle County looked to bowl straight to minimise runs on the quick scoring outfield. Finlay Burns (0-42) bowled very well supported by the old man Niall Burns (0-49). Both were unlucky not to pick up wickets with chances dropping short of fielders. Good to see Calum Fitzgerald (1-42) playing again and taking a wicket with his first ball. Paddy Thomson (1-42) enjoyed a few overs and Kevin Bunten (1-21) rounded off the bowling. Good catches in the outfield to Richardson and N.Burns as DT chased down the total losing two wickets in the process.Julian Pace produced another tidy wicket keeping performance and Robert Wilson fielded tidily in the ring. Player of the match to Chris Richardson and a champagne moment to Callum Fitzgerald with a wicket with his first ball. Well played Drummond Trinity as Peebles left with a few batting and bowling points before the drive back over the hills. Thank you to DT for hosting and a game played in good spirit throughout.
