This week has been a good week. The weather has been good, Sarah and I booked our honeymoon for after the wedding, we’ve got lots of exciting things to look forward to heading in to the 2nd half of the year, but last week was a bit of a drag for some reason.
But last week I still got my workouts done, kinda going through the motions but still got them done.
One of the members said to me those are the days you win though, when you don’t have the motivation but you still show up.
So I don’t know if someone needs to hear that, maybe you’ve been struggling with your workouts but you are still getting it done? Well? Well done to you! Those are the days that make a difference.

We spend far too much time letting the scales decide whether we’re making progress or not.
John is a perfect example of why that’s not always the best way to measure success.
After years of following low-carb diets, we focused on building habits he could actually stick to. Eating normal food. Getting stronger. Feeling fitter. Building confidence.
Did the scales tell the full story?
Not even close.
His tape measurements changed, he felt stronger, had more energy and, most importantly, found an approach that actually fitted his lifestyle.
Sometimes the biggest progress isn’t what you see on the scales.
It’s how you feel.
Dad Squad returns on 10th August.

Week 2 of doing my Thursday Thoughts and still not really any more comfortable doing them 😂
That said though after posting my video last week I received some lovely comments from people with encouragement, which helped a lot when it came to doing this weeks.
I had it back to front, I thought I needed confidence to do the first video, instead I got it after.
And I reckon that could apply to anything, gym anxiety, doing a speech etc.
So if by posting this it helps one person then it’s worthwhile.
Have a good weekend everyone.
It’s not necessarily the summer that’s the problem.
You work all year to save up to get away with the family, you should enjoy that time off without having to worry about calories or eating this or that.
You tell yourself, “I’ll get back to it when the kids go back.”
Then life gets busy.
The October break comes and goes.
Before you know it, the festive season is here.
Then it’s January and you’re back where you started.
So the problem isn’t summer.
The problem is finishing summer with no plan.
That’s exactly why Dad Squad starts on 10th August. Enjoy your summer, then come back with a plan and let’s get to work.
If you’d like to know more, just send me a DM with the word DAD.
Right… a wee update.
I’ve decided to put Thrive on a summer hiatus.
With the school holidays kicking in, life gets a bit mental. Kids are off, routines go out the window and trying to get everyone together on a Thursday becomes like herding cats. Rather than force it through the summer, we’ll hit pause and come back after the holidays with a fresh six-week block.
Huge thanks to everyone who’s come along over the last few months. It’s been brilliant seeing the class grow, and we’ll be back before you know it, even better than before!
Now… this is the bit that’s making me slightly uncomfortable.
I’ve been saying for ages that I need to be more consistent on social media, so here’s me forcing myself to do something about it.
Every Thursday while Thrive is off, I’m posting a Thursday Thought.
No fancy editing.
No scripts.
No pretending I’m some motivational guru standing in front of a mountain telling you to find your inner selves.
Just one take, whatever’s been rattling around in my head that week. It might be fitness, business, coaching or something completely random, (probably be the sh**ey weather).
If nothing else though, you’ll get to watch me awkwardly talk to my phone once a week. Could be great, could be cringe.
Either way, I’ll see you next Thursday.
Today’s Thrive was the week 6 “mash up” where we incorporate all the techniques and movements we have learned over the previous 5 weeks.
Always a fun session, especially on the hottest day of the year ☀️ 🥵
Thanks to everyone that came along and if you want to join in next week for the start of the next block send me a DM or click the link in the bio. 💪🏻
Today’s Thrive was a belter!
“Upper Push” was today’s theme where we worked on from for a flat dumbbell bench press and an incline dumbbell bench press along with some quality conditioning to the keep the heart rate up.
As always, we had the energy and fun. Maureen and I even managed a two - step together 🤣
Thrive takes place each and every Thursday in the functional space in Paisley PureGym. If you want to book in just hit the link in the bio above.
Stag do… done.
After the weekend we had there I expected the absolute worst.
Beers. Shots. Hardly any sleep. Grazing on chips and pizzas.
(and aye… the speedos with Sarah’s face all over them were unfortunately very real)
But here’s the thing…
One weekend doesn’t ruin progress.
What usually ruins progress is deciding: “Uch I’ll start again Monday.”
So this week?
Back to normal food.
Back to the gym.
Back to steps.
No punishment.
No starving.
Just back to normality… while remembering what an class weekend I had with an amazing bunch of lads ❤️
(Still emotionally recovering from the Highland cow outfit though 🤣)
