Formerly Southfield Golf Club. Celebrating 100 years of Harry C**t design - 1923 to 2023 Oxford Golf Club is a rare commodity.

With origins of golf first played on the original Cowley Marsh site as far back as 1873, it’s safe to say that Oxford Golf Club is part of the fabric of the city. One of the oldest golf clubs in England and most certainly the oldest in Oxfordshire, the original golf club to take precedence here was the Oxford University Golf Club in 1875. Since then the Oxford City Golf Club and Oxford Ladies Golf

Club now consider Oxford Golf Club as their home and have done so since 1899 and 1901 respectively. Originating as far back as 1875 and designed by renowned golf course designer James Braid. The course as it is today was re-designed in 1922 by the legendary golf course architect Harry C**t, who's more notable courses, to name just a few, include:
Royal Lytham St Annes
Royal Portrush
Muirfield
Royal Liverpool (Hoylake)
Sunningdale Old
Wentworth West

It's safe to say we follow in distinguished footsteps. Located within only two miles of the city centre you wouldn't believe that a golf course could be so close to such an urban environment, never mind fit on the parcel of land bordered on every corner by main roads and housing developments. Once you arrive at the club, the scenery couldn't be more different. Gorgeous greenery and tranquil songs from the local wildlife take precedence. With the busy city out of mind and the skyline only in view from a select number of holes this really is a 'hidden gem'. One of the many golfers that have walked our fairways include the likes of Viscount Nuffield himself, William Morris, who also took up presidency of the Oxford City Golf Club from 1925 until his death in 1963. Closer to the present day and a rather well known gentleman by the name of Peter Dawson (former Secretary of the R&A) was also a member here back in his university days. Formerly known as Southfield Golf Club from as early as the 1920’s, the course changed its name to Oxford Golf Club in 2011 to help clarify the club’s location in Oxford to the outside world. Given this and the length of time the club has been in situ, it remains somewhat a hidden gem, tucked away off Divinity Road and Southfield Road, at the end of the adjoining Hill Top Road. Our golf club services everything from; membership, societies, pay & play as well as corporate and charity golf days. With our prime location we can play host to various events, including; wedding receptions, birthday parties and conferences. Our venue has a function room which can cater for a maximum of 100 people seated on round tables or even more for theatre style settings amongst many other room layouts available. For more lively events or celebrations there is the facility to lay a dance-floor, play live music and we can organise your function to suit your every requirement and budget. Many things have changed over the years, but make no mistake Oxford Golf Club takes pride of place as:

To celebrate National Pie Week, we introduce you to the New "Oxford Pie" which is only available at the golf club. Tender beef and mushroom, cooked in red wine with a good splash of Oxford Sauce to give it a rich and tangy taste, all encased in a buttery short crust pastry (all hand made at the golf club). Just £6 to take away or £10 as a sit in meal (served with creamy mash, savoy cabbage and thick gravy). We're open to the public from 09:00 to 16:00, 7 days a week so please, come in, enjoy the view and grab a bite to eat.
