This summer's heatwaves and drought have put immense pressure on our green spaces, but our team has worked tirelessly to protect the trees, plants and shrubs across the Park and University grounds. 🌿☀️

Since Thames Water introduced water restrictions on 23 July, our team has continued caring for newly planted trees and delicate plants using untreated water, following Environment Agency guidelines.

Thanks to their dedication and hard work, many of our plants have not only survived but continue to thrive. 🌸💚

Join Samuel Oliver-Sherry and Kirsty Fernie this Sunday for a special outdoor concert exploring the story of the Italian madrigal, the sixteenth-century vocal music phenomenon that captivated Italy. Set against the beautiful backdrop of University Parks, this concert brings to life the "hit songs" of Renaissance Italy and uncovers their connection to the popular music we enjoy today.

You may have seen yesterday’s Oxford Mail article about the ‘fluorescent’ algae spotted in the River Cherwell and questions about whether it could be toxic. We investigated and found it was actually harmless duckweed, not toxic algae. While there’s no concern from the duckweed itself, we still recommend staying out of the water and taking care around the river.

Spot the robot visited us again this week, to roam the site, creating detailed maps of trees and pathways while using its sensors to track environmental changes between visits.

Take a moment to visit Sobell House Hospice Charity's Rainbow of Ribbons display in University Parks. This beautiful installation is a heartfelt tribute to loved ones who are no longer with us, with each ribbon dedicated in remembrance of someone special.

The display will remain in place until the end of August, creating a peaceful and reflective space for visitors to pause, remember, and celebrate cherished memories.
