TORPIDS 2023.
🎉Hilda’s achieved +14 net places on the river (4th highest net places gained out of 35 colleges)
🎉W2 achieved blades
🎉 Only 2 concessions in total from Hilda’s the whole week
*****************
Full roundup from the week:
⬆️M2 bumped Teddy Hall II on the final day finishing +5 on the river and bumping three out of four days.
➡️M1 rowed over, holding their position in Division 3
⬆️W1 bumped Linacre straight off of the start before Donnington Bridge, also bumping three out of four days.
⬆️W2 achieved blades for the second time ever in SHCBC history and the first time since 1984. They bumped Brasenose II and across all four days, never rowed past Donnington Bridge, finishing +6.
Overall, this was a massive week for Hilda’s and we are looking forward to refurbishing the blades winning, Women’s Second boat (Mary Bennett) over the vacation to go even faster next term. Thanks for everyone who came down to the river to support, everyone had so much fun and it’s great to see so many Hildabeasts enjoying rowing (and coxing!).

Torpids Day 3 - 3 more bumps for Hildas! 🎉
⬆️W2 bumped ChCh III in under a minute- a bump tomorrow would mean blades for W2!
⬆️M2 also bumped very quickly off the start, catching Mansfield II and moved up 3 places in one day!
⬆️M1 was the sandwich boat rowing strong at the top of Div 4 and went on to Bump Oriel II securing their position back in Division 3.
➡️W1 had a really strong row over, and were chasing St John’s off the start. Unfortunately, Worcester and St John’s both bumped Linacre. This meant that in order to bump, Hilda’s would need to gain a double overbump and also bump Linacre. W1 rowed really well and managed to close down on Linacre to less than half a length by the finish line (equivalent to gaining ~ 6 boat lengths over the race!)
This has been such an incredible week so far for Hilda’s, please come down to the BH to watch for our final day of racing tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!

Torpids Day 2! Two more bumps for Hildas! 🎉🦄
➡️M2 had a really strong start and gained very close to Keble III however Keble bumped out just before Hildas could catch them and so M2 rowed over
⬆️W2 bumped Merton II in under 15 strokes.
⬇️M1 rowed strong but were unfortunately caught by St Antony’s II near BH island.
⬆️W1 had a phenomenal row and achieved a long bump on Merton W1 just before Univ boat house.
