There was definitely something in the air at Florence Park this Sunday.
In Volunteer Alex's case, Alex actually was in the air!

Our warm-up leader demonstrated some impressive levitation during the pre-run exercises, while 111 junior parkrunners prepared themselves the 2k around the park.
Once everyone was safely back on terra firma, it was time for the start.
And we had a particularly speedy morning ahead of us.
A very fast first finish
Our first finisher produced a fantastic run, recording the second-fastest female time ever at Florence Park junior parkrun.
That's quite an achievement after 281 events and thousands of finishes around our course. Congratulations on a superb run!
Of course, junior parkrun isn't just about being speedy. Every one of our 111 finishers completed the same 2k course, whether they raced it, ran it, jogged it, or took things at their own pace.
We were also delighted to welcome visitors from London and Swindon. We hope you enjoyed your morning at Florence Park and that you'll come back and see us again.
Wristband time!
One of the loveliest things about junior parkrun is watching those Sunday mornings gradually add up.
This week we celebrated four juniors reaching a milestone:
10 participation: Susie, Lina, Tilly, and Jack
10 volunteer milestone: Aria
Congratulations to all five of you and proof that you're never too young to become one of our hi-vis heroes.
Aria was helping with token sorting this week, one of those important jobs that happens after everyone has crossed the finish line. Every token has to find its way back into the correct order, ready to do it all over again next Sunday.
And although our photograph of the token sorting features a particularly impressive set of flashy fingernails, we should give credit where it's due: those belong to Volunteer Emma!
29 reasons junior parkrun happened this week: Alongside our 111 finishers were 29 wonderful volunteers.
They warmed everyone up, marshalled the course, cheered, timed, scanned, handed out tokens, sorted them afterwards, and carried out all the other little jobs that turn an ordinary Sunday morning in the park into junior parkrun.
Thank you to every one of our 29 volunteers.
We always need more people to help. No experience is necessary, there are roles to suit almost everyone, and volunteering is a great way to be part of the event even when you're not running.
And, as Aria has demonstrated, those volunteer credits soon begin to add up too!
And finallyโฆ
There was one more milestone to celebrate, although this one doesn't come with a parkrun wristband.

We hope junior parkrun was a suitably energetic way to start your birthday celebrations.
So, event #281 gave us 111 finishers, 29 volunteers, visitors from London and Swindon, five new wristbands, one birthday, the second-fastest female finish in our history, some fabulous fingernails, and a warm-up leader apparently capable of defying gravity.
Not bad for a Sunday morning in Florence Park.
See you all soon ๐งก

The skies over Florence Park may have been decidedly grey on Sunday morning, but nobody seemed to have told our junior parkrunners ๐

There were smiles, waves, high-fives, and plenty of enthusiasm providing a rather more reliable kind of sunshine as our juniors gathered for another Sunday morning 2k around the park.
After the usual welcome, briefing, and all-important warm-up, everyone headed to the start line.
Then they were off!
Soon the paths of Florence Park were filled with juniors running, jogging, walking, and smiling their way around two laps. Some had their eyes firmly fixed on a speedy finish, others were enjoying the journey, and there were plenty of waves for supporters and volunteers along the way.
And that's exactly what junior parkrun is about. It doesn't matter whether you are racing towards a new PB, completing your very first junior parkrun, working towards your next milestone wristband, or simply enjoying being outside on a Sunday morning. 2k is 2k, however you choose to complete it.

We welcomed 15 first-timers. A very warm Florence Park welcome to all of you. We hope this is the first of many Sunday mornings with us!
There was also plenty to celebrate among our returning juniors, with 19 new PBs recorded. Congratulations to everyone who earned those two rather satisfying little letters next to their name.
But whether the result said "PB" or not, every junior who completed those two laps had something to be proud of.
Our hi-vis heroes ๐ฆบ
Of course, none of this happens without our volunteers.
๐ ๐ต๐๐ด๐ฒ ๐ง๐๐๐ก๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, including Tom our Run Director/Warm Up Leader/Results Processor/Post-event Close Down, who gave up part of their Sunday morning to set up the course, marshal, time, scan, hand out finish tokens, tail walk, cheer, clap, encourage, and make sure everyone got safely around the park.
Junior parkrun needs a surprisingly large number of volunteers each week, and we always need more helping hands.
If you've never volunteered before, please consider giving it a go. You don't need any previous experience, there are plenty of roles to choose from, and we'll show you everything you need to know. Best of all, you get a front-row seat for all those smiles, waves, and triumphant finishes.
So the sun might have stayed hidden behind the clouds this week.
We didn't really miss it.
Our juniors and volunteers brought plenty of their own ๐ See you next Sunday!

Another warm Sunday morning at ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ #๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฑ, everyone was feeling exhausted after staying up late for the big game the night before โฝ๏ธโฆ but that didnโt stop 81 juniors from crossing the finish line. A huge well done to everyone who ran, walked, skipped or sprinted their way around the course!
Special mention to this weekโs Run Director Kieran, who expertly (and very tactically!) managed to get everyone lined up behind the start line before we set off. The photos tell the story perfectly! ๐๐
We only have a small selection of photos this week, but there are still some lovely moments captured. Check them out here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/N3xM19YibrvVswV78 ๐ธ
There was an unusual bit of symmetry at the front of the field too, with our first two finishers both being called Freddie! ๐๐
