The girls delivered a brilliant performance today, playing fast, intelligent football from the very first whistle. We dominated early with sharp passing and quick movement, and although the woodwork denied us more goals, the quality was clear to see.

After a strong half‑time message about pairing great football with great mentality, the team stepped up again — more physical, more determined, and fully on the front foot. Thursday’s work on quick 1–2 touch play shone through, with superb link‑ups and well‑deserved goals.

Standout moments included Belle’s calm defending, Grace U’s relentless fight (plus a goal‑line clearance!), Ava’s excellent wing play, Ella’s strongest game since returning from injury, and Daisy’s trademark energy. POTM was tough to call with Esme, Elise and Poppy all putting in outstanding shifts to claim Parents POTM.

A special mention to Elsie, who transformed her game in the second half — aggressive, confident, controlled, and capped with a lovely goal, those tun down the wing were exceptional and well earned POTM.

We can't use our VEO from today, but rest assured Hallie opened her League account today with a rocket. An outstanding strike.

A brilliant team performance with great football, great goals, and even more still to come. 💚

💚 Burscough Wolves 3–4 Whittle Hall

A game of two halves.

There is plenty to be frustrated about today, but also plenty to be positive about.

The first half was everything we have been asking of this group. We pressed with purpose, moved the ball quickly, played with energy and, most importantly, worked together. We created chances and deservedly went into the break 3–1 ahead.

Emily opened her Wolves account with a well taken finish after yet more high press.

Once again, though, we didn't make enough of those chances count. More clinical finishing would have given us the opportunity to put the game to bed much earlier.

At half-time, we were in a fantastic position against a strong Whittle Hall side — a team who had us 3–0 down at the same point just a few weeks ago. That alone shows the progress this group has made.

Unfortunately, the second half was a different story.

We lost some of the intensity, drive and togetherness that had put us in control. Our shape suffered, our leadership dropped and, most importantly, we stopped competing in the way we know we are capable of.

We allowed Whittle Hall back into the game and ultimately gave away a position that we had worked extremely hard to create.

That is on us. We should have seen the game out, and there is no hiding from that. We need to learn how to manage those moments, maintain our standards and keep that competitive mindset for the full 80 minutes.

But football is about how you respond.

This group has already shown the quality, character and ability to compete with strong teams. The first half was a huge reminder of what we can produce when we play with intensity, purpose and togetherness.

This setback can either define the result or become the moment that makes us stronger.

We learn. We grow. We respond. And we go again. 💚⚽️

There is plenty of football still to play, and plenty for this team to be excited about.

A special mention to our POTM from yesterday.

Ava was parents POTM after scoring 4 goals and a game full of skill, pace and drive in her attacking play.

Coaches POTM went to Belle for unbelievable decision making, being in the right place defensively but recognising her opportunities to push forward with brilliant individual runs. And Alice for a great all round performance, a game where she had everything, passing, movement, vision, assists, goals, effort and energy.

Well done all three on excellent performances.
