MAINTENANCE ENGINEER / MECHANICAL FITTER 🛠⚙️
Location: Omagh & Newtownstewart, Co. Tyrone
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)

Due to continued expansion, Boyd Bedding is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join our growing team.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of machinery and equipment across both our Omagh and Newtownstewart sites. Travel between both locations will be required as part of normal daily duties.
As our manufacturing facilities operate 24 hours a day, reliability is essential. While the standard working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, the successful candidate must be willing to participate in on-call duties and attend call-outs outside normal working hours when required to carry out maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and ensure production continues with minimal downtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out preventative maintenance schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.
• Maintain and repair bearings, augers, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and other plant equipment.
• Work closely with production and management teams to communicate maintenance requirements and project updates.
• Identify opportunities for machinery and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
• Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and factory improvement projects.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or similar industrial maintenance role.
• Strong working knowledge of bearings, augers, electric motors, gearboxes, conveying systems, and associated plant equipment.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Extremely reliable, dependable, and committed to maintaining production efficiency.
• Full, clean UK driving licence (essential).
