October Pool Lifeguard Course 🏊♂️
Looking to start a rewarding and flexible career in leisure?
Our STA Level 3 Pool Lifeguard Course is running:
📅 Monday 26th – Saturday 31st October 2026
The course is intensive and practical, covering everything you need to become a qualified Pool Lifeguard, including:
- Poolside Rescue
- First Aid & CPR
- Pool safety and lifeguarding skills
- Theory and practical training
Why become a Pool Lifeguard?
Pool Lifeguarding is a rewarding role offering flexible working opportunities, whether you're looking for casual or contracted hours. With experience, you could also progress to a Beach Lifeguard qualification and explore opportunities to work abroad.
The STA Pool Lifeguard qualification is widely recognised across the UK and internationally and is valid for 3 years following successful completion of the course and assessment.

Join the team from Calm Ahead for relaxed, supportive conversations about menopause. In this calm and welcoming space, host Jenny Eastwood will share helpful information, real‑life experiences, and gentle reassurance.
Join us at Oldham Leisure Centre, Chadderton Wellbeing Centre or Royton Leisure Centre for these fantastic, informative events. Interested in being a Film Assistant? 🎞️
We have an exciting freelance opportunity for a local young person to support the making of community storytelling video campaigns for Oldham Active.
The campaign captures real, unscripted video testimonials from Oldham Active members speaking directly to camera about how the service has changed their lives. Delivered across six priority health themes, the series will be released sequentially, building momentum before culminating in a final combined film premiered at a local cinema event for key stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will:
- Live in Oldham
- Be aged 18-25
- Have a strong interest in filmmaking
- Want to gain more experience in Filmmaking
- Have a passion/experience for working with underrepresented communities
- Have excellent communication skills in person
- Be excited by the prospect of exploring and creating a cultural project
- Have strong timekeeping skills
- Be comfortable working on film shoot locations in and around Oldham, and be comfortable travelling independently to different locations around Oldham.

Sign up to be a volunteer for the Tour de France! 🚲
Oldham residents are being encouraged to help make sporting history by signing up as volunteers for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, coming to the UK in summer 2027.
The race will pass through Oldham on Friday 30th July, offering a brilliant opportunity for people in Oldham to get involved and showcase the borough on a global stage.
The application portal is now open, with people invited to sign up before 1 September 2026.
