SHAW LADIES ARE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

Shaw CC are the first ever GMCL Women's and Girls Championship Winners!

After this week's victory for the ladies over Leigh CC, that has cemented their place at the top of the league table for good!

The team still have two games left to play, but are currently un-catchable, with a 7 point lead.

Across 14 games the team only lost 2. Showing their strength and determination throughout. This win also comes off the back of more success over the winter. With the team winning the indoor league, and more recently winning an international tournament in Malta!

The future is looking bright for the team, and i'm sure you can all join the club in congratulating this fantastic set of Ladies.

1XI vs Denton West

Coming in at number 7, with shaw 98/5 Lordy had a big job to do. And the team couldn't have asked for anything more. Sticking around with Buddi, scoring consistently and helping the total keep ticking. A 128 run partnership put shaws score up to 226 before Lordy fell for an impressive 63 (71)

Stephen Rowlands- 6️⃣5️⃣ (57)
2XI vs Micklehurst

Another impressive 50 for Rowly this week. Coming in at number 6, with shaw 54/4, there was plenty that needed to be done. But be stuck around, digging in and at a strike rate of 114, put on 65 off 57 balls. Rowlys wicket fell with the team 181/6. So a massive contribution to the total.

Ahsan Farooq- 5️⃣2️⃣ (41)
2XI vs Micklehurst

Coming in at number 8, with Shaw 106/6 and a Rowly at the other end batting comfortably. Farooq came in with one thing in mind, see ball, hit ball. An impressive 52 at at a strike rate of 126, meant Shaw were well on their way to a good total. Farooq's wicket fell with Shaw 199/8. A very good effort.

Charlie McCormack- 5️⃣4️⃣ (98)
3XI vs Swinton Moorside

The 3XI overseas and opening batsman Charlie, produced another outstanding knock. Showing his class once again. Charlie has recently found some form and has been unstoppable opening the batting. A third fifty to add to his tally this year as he stuck around and dug in through most of Shaws innings, before falling with Shaw 162/1. Another great effort.

Lexi Hall- 5️⃣5️⃣ (18)
Shaw Ladies vs Little Hulton Ladies

A maiden Shaw 50 for Lexi Hall today. A massively impressive feat from the 15 year old. With only 4 overs to do it in. Hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes, batting at a stike rate of 305. It was a truly magnificent innings to witness. And the full club are proud of the skillful young player she's become.

Oliver Thompson- 6️⃣3️⃣ (53)
4XI vs Prestwich

No surprises here, Olly smashes another 50 for the 4s. His class this season opening the batting in the 2s and 4s, with a go in the 1s in the middle. Has been nothing short of unbelievable. One of the clubs most consistent players and great to have in the team on and off the pitch. This score massively helped the team to put towards the 192 target. And the 104 partnership with Jack Harrop for no loss was exeptional to watch.

Another big score to talk about from this weekend!

Buddika Madushan- 1️⃣2️⃣5️⃣*

Another superb knock from Buddi for the 1XI on Saturday against Denton West. A maiden Shaw ton for him, as he once again showed his class with the bat and ball.

Buddi came it at number 5, when shaw were 45/3 and safe to say he turned it around.

Buddi batted for the remainder of the innings scoring at a strike rate of 140.

Assisted by a comfortable Brian Lord who also chipped in with 63, but more importantly staying put in the middle.

Shaw finished the innings on 308/7 (50) Our highest score of the season by far.

Buddi also produced figures of 3/58 off his 15 overs, in shaws attempt to defend their total.

Lots of big scores to talk about this weekend but here's the main one!

Jack Harrop- 1️⃣0️⃣6️⃣*

14 year old Jack Harrop scored his maiden ton for the fourth team today. Not only that he scored back to back 4s, bringing up his ton and finishing the game off.

He batted magnificently from ball 1 to ball 117. Scoring 106* across them. It was an unbelievable and mature knock from a lad only 14 years old.

The club is proud to call him one of our own.

And we know its only up from here for him now. Keep doing what you love mate 💛💚
