Okehampton U12 1-1 Seaton U12

Okehampton continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought draw with a very organised Seaton side.

The first half was a scrappy game with good defending from both teams. Harry in goal was commanding his area well with great protection from Ollie and Seb in front.

The midfield of Thomas Callum C and Sulli were battling hard and the front three of Albie, Elliot and Kit were causing the Seaton defence problems. Despite. Handed for both teams the first half ended 0-0.

The second half saw the introduction of Charlie, Xavier and Callum W.

Okehampton were causing Seaton lots of problems. Their keeper keeping the game level.

Finally the breakthrough came. A great ball by Ollie got the Okes moving quickly. A great move involving fast passes finally found Charlie at the far post to finish high into the goal.

Callum C had a great strike to make it 2-0 but the Seaton goalkeeper pulled of a great save.

Oke were pushing to secure the win but we’re caught cold by a through ball that had the defence chasing backwards. An unlucky challenge just missed the ball and a penalty was awarded. It was tucked away in the final moments of the game 1-1.

With the equaliser giving seaton renewed energy there was just enough time for one more attack. A strike from the edge of the box was excellently saved by Harry.

Okehampton’s very tough start to the season continued as they travelled to another top division 1 team in Stoke Hill.

Okehampton started slowly and let Stoke hill pass the ball around with no real pressure. Good covering from Laurence prevented Okehampton going a goal down early and a save by Harry kept the score at 0-0.
But when the vipers conceded they conceded 3 in quick succession. Not clearing the ball and panicking resulted in 3 very good goals from long range giving Harry very little chance in goal. Another good bit of football from Stoke hill saw them score 2 more before half time with Okehampton not really threatening although Coen’s work rate and Jackson’s calmness on the ball probably the only highlights of a poor 1st half.

2nd half Okehampton started a lot better making some good passes and movement greatly improved. Pressure on Stoke hill was a lot better and Okehampton realised they could compete with their rivals. Jackson continued to move the ball and looked to release Alex and Jake q in on goal but Stoke hill defended well. Harry came out of goal superbly to clear. Raff and Alistair showed the fight Okehampton missed in the 1st half. Coen continued to work hard in midfield linking defence to attack. Stoke hill added a great team goal with a couple of minutes left to see the game finish 6-0. With Coen workrate and fight just pipping Jackson’s calmness on the ball to MOM
Okehamptons reaction in the 2nd half was a massive positive just a shame they didn’t start the way they finished. On to next week away at Topsham 💙💛⚽️

LYMPSTONE 2–9 OKEHAMPTON 🔵🟡

A fantastic response from the lads after last week’s tough opener! 👏

Two messages before kick-off: NO COMPLACENCY after last year’s Cup win, and be prepared for a very hard, bobbly pitch after the dry summer.

Lympstone started well and took the lead, but after switching from 4-3-3 to our familiar 3-5-2, the difference was immediate.

⚽ Archie levelled after Morley won two headers in the attacking third.

⚽ Jake rounded the keeper after a perfectly weighted ball from Archie.

⚽ Archie’s corner was carried over the line by the keeper — 1–3! Fair play to the linesman for giving it!

⚽ Archie added two more, including a sublime lob.

Lympstone pulled one back just before half time.

HT: 2–5

The message at half time was to keep the intensity despite playing slightly uphill — and the lads did exactly that! 💪

⚽ Ollie, the ‘fox in the box’ reacted quickest to a spilled free kick.

⚽ Archie showed incredible determination and pace to recover a slightly misplaced through ball and fire home.

We were now playing some fantastic football, with great passing and interplay. The Lympstone keeper made a string of excellent saves, while Joe was outstanding in midfield.

⚽ Archie completed his DOUBLE HAT-TRICK!

⚽ And there was still time for one more, with Archie crossing superbly for Morley to volley home.

One of the biggest positives? We didn’t concede from a single corner! 🙌 Payback for all that work at Monday’s training!

Culm Sampford 1-2 Okehampton U12 ⚽️

After the opening week win away at Ottery 0-1 in which Elliot scored the winner Okehampton made the trip up the M5 to Culm Sampford hoping to keep the positive start to the season going.

Okehampton started brightly and with Seb and Ollie providing great cover at the back the forward players were able to start to express themselves.

Chances were being created by the midfield three of Thomas, Callum and Sulli and it was only some good defending from Culm and their keeper that were keeping Albie, Charlie and Xavier at bay.

Eventually the breakthrough came when Seb dispossessed the culm attacker and played a great through ball that set Charlie away. He took a touch and finished calmly past the Culm keeper.

Culm came back at Okehampton and played their own through ball which was finished well. Half time 1-1.

The second half saw Kit, Callum C and Joey come on. They were very bright and creating lots of chances but it was very end to end. Harry in goal was doing very well and his starting position meant that he was sweeping up all of the Culm Attacks.

Callum C had a chance to put Oke back in front but his amazing shot hit the outside of the post.

It felt like the goal might not come but then Xavier made one of his strong runs beating defenders before firing one past the Culm keeper.

This was a fantastic away performance from the lads with every player battling their way to the win.

Okehampton Under 9s v Bideford

Okehampton continued their pre season with friendly games v Bideford at Simmons Park.

The Royals started their first match well going 2-0 up with goals from Arlo and Jacob. But Bideford hit back to level at 2-2. Into the second half Bideford took the lead but the Royals then scored 5 more goals through Jacob x 3, Joey with two to finish 7-3 winners.

The second match was much closer with both teams having chances but going in 0-0 at half time. Into the second half the Royals went 1-0 down but soon responded with a goal from Freddie D. Bideford again hit back and went 2-1 up before a good goal by Ellis seemed to have secured a draw but in the last few seconds of the game Bideford scored again to finish 3-2 winners.

For the Blues their first game was a difficult one, too many mistakes led to them going down 7-0 but they never stopped running and on another day it would have been a much closer game.

Into their second match and the Blues were much more themselves, leading 1-0 through Freddie before Bideford hit back with two quick goals to lead 2-1 at half time. But the Blues never gave up, equalising with a neat goal from Reggie before Henry scored a late winner to give them a deserved 3-2 win.

Okehampton U13s vipers hosted Moors Youth on a windy Saturday morning, with an even start as both teams battled for control.

There was plenty of good defending from both sides, with Harry making several smart saves to keep the score level. He was called into action again and again, producing some excellent stops to keep us in the game.

Alex and Connor showed great work rate out on the wings, helping to push us forward and get the boys up the pitch.

A quick throw-in caught us out and allowed Moors to move forward, with a clever dink over our keeper giving them the lead.

Oscar did brilliantly to win the ball in the middle of the park before sending Alex through on goal, but his effort went just marginally wide.

The half ended with the game in the balance either team could win it.

The second half started in much the same way, with both teams working hard. Moors youth eventually doubled their advantage after an attack down the left was finished neatly into the far bottom corner.

Laurence put in an excellent performance at the back throughout the game, particularly against a feisty and sometimes late attacking player.

Moors youth added a third before the final whistle, bringing the game to an end 💛💙⚽️

U13 cobras played today away too Lympstone, it was a very good game and the result didn’t compare too how well the cobras played
The 1st half was full of chances by both teams but no one could break the deadlock and we were all tied up at half time Lympstone went 1-0 up quite early into the 2nd half but we kept fighting and didn’t give up
They then scored a 2nd which was unlucky as we went too clear the ball and it bounced off of one of our players and went in.
The cobras didn’t drop their heads and kept going and we had a goal ruled off for offside which was a questionable decision but we kept playing and didn’t let it get too us
We then scored a goal that counted with a through ball from Heiden too Leo DT that he slotted away, a good ball followed by a good finish
We then conceded a 3rd which was extremely unlucky as it bounced off the cross bar and hit our keeper in the back too round the game off at a 3-1 loss
MOTM was Jacob and he was solid at the back for us, a very good game from all involved, excited for the rest of the season 💛💙⚽️ KGM Plumbing & Heating Ltd
