Monday morning moment of peace: A buzzard, crow, and blackbird caught on a trail camera enjoying the clear water flowing over mossy rocks.

Video description - first a buzzard moves from a mossy rock beside the river away from the camera, then a crow heads into the water for a bath, splashing the water up over its head and wings, finally a female blackbird moves about on the mossy rocks looking for food to catch.

Not your average National Trust experience. Here you can explore a temperate rainforest, take in the towering Whitelady Waterfall, and descend into the roaring Devil's Cauldron.

Open 10am to 4.30pm, no need to book but please check https://bit.ly/GorgeInfo before travelling in case of any closures for safety. Sturdy footwear with good grip is recommended and dogs are welcome on leads.

This old hazelnut shell contains a mini ecosystem of life.

The hazelnut was probably eaten by a squirrel long ago, but the shell is now home to fungi, moss, and the tiny creatures that live in hidden worlds like these.

📷 Thanks to Ranger Emma for the photo, and for spotting this tiny world.

On National Read a Book Day we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has bought or donated books in the second-hand bookshop.

So far we've raised over £14,000 pounds which will all be used at Lydford Gorge to help look after it for everyone, for ever.

If you have any donations of books, card games or puzzles we'd be very grateful. We're especially short of novels, nature and children's books, we can accept donations any time we're open.
