Man of the Match

🏆 Harry - First League game as a Jay and what a performance. 3 fantastic stops on the dice and total domination of his box, really unlucky not to get the clean sheet after a freak ball ballooned over him from nothing. Got a classy assist too!

🏆 Ethan - a new position playing as striker and didn’t he do well. Goals from all over the pitch including a header of quality.

However could have been any of the lads today.

Pre-Season continues on Wednesday night for the Jays.

Massive thank you to Heather Falcons U14’s for travelling over for what was a great competitive game.

The game had very much a preseason feel to it, with the sun shining making it very warm. Fortunately for everyone Sarah and Lola were on hand to to keep all the supporters hydrated🥤

Not much in the first quarter between the sides with it being pretty scrappy with neither side really getting control of the game. We did manage to get our noses in front with Freddie popping up at the far post to head in from a tight angle ⚽️

We were then able to extend the lead with Ethan making in 3 in 2 games finishing well ⚽️

Half time 2-0

Second half was pretty much the same with Heather growing more into the game with them looking to turn our defenders and press well from the front. However despite this The Jays were able to make it 3-0 after a very smart ball played Freddie in to score his second of the game ⚽️ With just a few minutes left we kept pushing and a run and cross from Ethan found Matty at the far post who finished really well on the angle. ⚽️

Full time 4-0

A good run out and a competitive game.

⚪️Atherstone Hurricanes 2-4 Weddington Jays 🔵⚫️

A cracking game to warm us up on an unusually ❄️chilly❄️ evening. With huge thanks to ARJFC Hurricanes for hosting what turned out to be a great game.

⚽️ The Jays got of to a great start with eventual MOTM Reece opening the scoring with a great control touch and finish into the bottom corner of the net.

⚽️ Ethan then spent five minutes terrorising the hurricane’s defence with some as per usual high-quality free kicks. With his third being the best of the lot going in off the crossbar and the post making it two nil.

Despite being two goals up the game was certainly never comfortable and our defensive unit were tested. But stayed strong to keep the score at two nil at half time.

⚽️⚽️ We started the second half at an electric pace and within 10 minutes scored two goals, Ethan once again with a tidy finish after a great ball through to him. And a combination of.Finn and Blake powered a corner over the line after a bit of a scramble.

Our opposition didn’t let their heads drop and battled on which led to a pretty scrappy middle 20 minutes of the second half, but their efforts paid off scoring two goals in three minutes from some well worked moves.

Man of the match was tricky with the whole team playing well. Shout outs to Leo, who looked dangerous going forward and a nightmare for the Right Back. Eddy at right back looks like he has always been there. Chaz covering at centre back after Deniz got a knock and Ethan for his goals and free kicks.

But Reece edged it with his hard work up top and added a bit of quality with his touch and finishing. Well deserved.

Great game, Played in the right spirit by both side.
