☀️ Heatwave Training Update ☀️
With another hot week on the way, we’ll be adapting classes slightly to make sure everyone can train safely.
Sessions will include plenty of hydration breaks, and we’ll be focusing more on technique drills, grading prep, movement and control, rather than speed, power or high-intensity work.
Please make sure you bring a drink with you, take breaks whenever you need them, and if you feel unwell, lightheaded or too hot at any point, stop training and rest straight away.
We’ll still have a great session — just a sensible one.
Train hard, train smart, train safe! 🥊

Training in hot weather ☀️
With the weather set to be very hot this week, take extra precautions before coming to classes!
Make sure you have been hydrated throughout the day, and bring plenty of water with you to class. We’ll make sure our lessons have plenty of drink breaks and don’t push you too hard.
It’s also important to make sure if you’re going to be outside in the day, wear SPF! Weather like this can cause heat stroke, so be careful in the sun this week.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Chuck Norris yesterday.
He was one of the all-time great martial arts icons and inspired so many people to get into fitness and martial arts.
In his honour:
Chuck Norris doesn't do push ups. He pushes the world down.
Rest in peace. 🥊

We have a tournament coming up in May! 🥊
Lots of our students enjoy sparring in class, but find the tournament a bit daunting, so let’s break it down!
On the day, the tournament is between students from the Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Derbyshire PKA clubs! We put all of our students into categories - juniors have age categories and adults have weight classes. So even if you’re up against someone from a different club who you don’t know, you will be evenly matched!
Students can enter into semi contact (breaks after each point is scored), light continuous (no stopping, referees take points throughout) and juniors can also enter into the padwork competition.
Our tournaments are local, and are more about having fun, having a good go at some sparring matches than it is winning titles - we want everyone to enjoy themselves more than anything!
Our next tournament is on the 10th May at Clifton Leisure Centre. As we get closer to the tournament we will have more sparring opportunities in classes, so let one of the coaching team know if you’re interested!
You can book to enter the tournament (or book spectator tickets!) here: https://www.kickboxuk.com/tournament-clifton-may-2026.html

👊 GRADING DAY DONE — and what a day it was!
Massive well done to everyone who stepped up and graded yesterday — you absolutely smashed it! Results are on their way, but one thing we already know for certain: every single one of you made your coaches and your club seriously proud. 💪🔥
And a huge shoutout to our brilliant coaching team for giving up their Sunday to support our students — legends, every one of them! 🙌
Stay tuned for results 🏆

🏅 What is the PKA Junior Reward Scheme?
When junior members join KickboxUK, they receive a blue reward book as part of their PKA membership. This gets stamped or signed at every class they attend and work well in — it's a simple but powerful way of recognising effort and commitment over time.
The first reward milestone comes after just 15 weeks of training, earning the Bronze Standard and a bronze medal. From there, juniors work their way through two more medals and five trophies — all included as part of the scheme at no extra cost.
So why do we do it? Because we know that for young people, being recognised for showing up and trying their best matters. The reward scheme isn't about being the fastest or the most talented — it's about consistency, positive attitude, and growth. Values that go far beyond martial arts.
It's one of the many reasons parents choose KickboxUK — their child gets a structured, progressive journey with built-in milestones to celebrate along the way. 🥋
