🚨 Lifebuoys are NOT a toy. They are there to SAVE LIVES. 🚨

Our Rangers are becoming increasingly frustrated by the misuse and vandalism of lifebuoy stations around Colwick Country Park.

Please remember:

🔸 Swimming is NOT permitted, unless it forms part of an organised session operated by our friends at Whole Health, where appropriate safety measures and lifeguards are in place.

🔸 Lifebuoys are emergency lifesaving equipment. They are there to help someone in genuine difficulty in the water. Every time one is removed, thrown into the lake or tampered with, it could delay a rescue and potentially cost someone their life.

Whilst our Rangers do their best to monitor the park alongside their many daily duties across the wider park and marina, we cannot be everywhere at once.

If you witness anyone misusing lifesaving equipment or engaging in anti-social behaviour, please report it to Nottinghamshire Police by calling 101, or online using the link:

Thank you to the vast majority of visitors who respect the park, and the safety equipment provided for everyone. Your support is greatly appreciated. 💚🌿

On the evening of 13th May, officers from the Sneinton and Meadows neighbourhood policing team joined forces with colleagues from the Environment Agency as part of Operation Traverse.

PCSO Emily Spencer-Raymond and PC Luke Whittle, alongside Fisheries Enforcement Officers, carried out targeted patrols in response to rising reports of anti-social behaviour and illegal fishing along the River Trent and at Colwick Country Park.

Patrols have been focused around the Racecourse Road area, where during the warmer months we often see:
🎣 Illegal fishing
🔥 Unauthorised BBQs
🌲 Fires that pose a serious risk to both people and wildlife

We’re proud to have a growing number of wildlife crime-trained officers across the city. We're here to protect both our natural environment and our communities.

👣 Over the coming months, you can expect to see more regular patrols in and around Colwick Park, both on foot and, working with the Environment Agency, even by boat patrols 🚤

Op Traverse aims to educate and engage with the public, ensure anglers have a valid rod licence and permit and protect fish stocks and local wildlife.
