From planning meals and doing the shopping, to learning travel skills and taking responsibility around the home, each opportunity helps build practical skills for the future.

With the right support, everyday tasks can become opportunities to learn, make choices, solve problems and grow in confidence.

Because preparing young people for the future starts with the skills they can practise today.

Which opportunity do you think has the biggest long-term impact?

Young people need opportunities to make choices, try new things, make mistakes and learn from them, with the right support around them.

In residential care, we’re not aiming for perfection. We’re helping young people build the confidence and skills they need for their future.

In residential care, progress doesn't always look like a huge milestone. Sometimes it's a small step, a difficult moment handled differently, or simply trying again.

Those moments matter.

As staff, recognising and celebrating progress helps young people see their own strengths and reminds them that they don't have to be perfect to be proud of how far they've come.
